Collaboration and competition add up to a day of Maths fun

As part of the Year 10 transition period, the Maths Department organised a Maths Fun Day to show that maths is fun, challenging and highly relevant to everyday life.

The day started with a team challenge involving maths problems to promote learning and collaboration. Bonus points were awarded at several times throughout the session, with some teams being so close in score that the last round determined the overall winners. Congratulations to the Funky Monkeys for their great work throughout the competition. Second place, with only a single point difference, went to Mathletes2.

In line with this theme, we watched Hidden Figures. The movie is based on real events and highlights that women who are determined, driven and face adversity with strength, are capable of great things.

With lunch and recess provided, I’m sure all would agree that the day was a great success.
