This is a global United Nations celebration that occurs every year in February to encourage us all to think about how we can motivate more women to enter Science, since women remain underrepresented in many of the scientific fields. You may have seen some of the inspiring media articles such as on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2023-02-10\/stem-women-encourage-females-to-join-professions\/101770590\">ABC<\/a> about this issue.<\/p>\n<p>As part of celebrating this important day, the Science Department is very pleased to announce that we will be taking a group of Year 10 students on a wonderful opportunity to attend the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sea.museum\/learn\/school-excursions\/high-school-programs\/women-in-stem\">Maritime Museum\u2019s Women in STEM event<\/a>, held on the Thursday 9 March . This will be a day full of hands-on activities and inspiring presentations by women in scientific fields. Students have the chance to ask questions and meet real scientists. However, places are limited, so its \u201cFirst in, best Scienced!\u201d. If you are in Year 9 or 10 and would like to attend this event, please <a href=\"mailto:miasharma@sceggs.nsw.edu.au\">email<\/a> Mrs Sharma ASAP. After rigorous polling at the Co-Curricular Expo, it was determined that Friday was the day! So tomorrow lunch, the first 2023 Science Club session will be starting at 1.05pm in JF9.
