{"id":9898,"date":"2023-02-16T11:57:22","date_gmt":"2023-02-16T00:57:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/sceggs\/?post_type=article&#038;p=9898"},"modified":"2023-02-16T11:57:22","modified_gmt":"2023-02-16T00:57:22","slug":"year-7-and-10-vaccination-clinic-dates-and-online-consent-2","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/sceggs\/article\/year-7-and-10-vaccination-clinic-dates-and-online-consent-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Year 7 and 10 Vaccination Clinic Dates and Online Consent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Year 7 and Year 10 students are able to receive free vaccinations through the NSW School Vaccination Program offered by NSW Health.<\/p>\n<p>SCEGGS Vaccination Clinic dates for 2023 are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clinic 1: <strong>Year 7<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (dTpa) <\/strong>and <strong>human papillomavirus (HPV)<\/strong><strong>vaccines<\/strong> \u2013 Thursday 2 March<\/li>\n<li>Clinic 2: <strong>Year 10<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>meningococcal ACWY vaccine<\/strong> \u2013 Thursday 27 July<\/li>\n<li>Clinic 3 \u2013 Catch-up vaccinations \u2013 Wednesday 8 November<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From 2023 parents can provide consent <strong>online<\/strong> for their child\u2019s routine school vaccinations.<\/p>\n<p>Vaccination will only be provided at school if consent has been received.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>How to provide consent:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>To complete online consent for your child\u2019s school vaccinations visit the NSW Health School Vaccination Portal\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nswhealth.service-now.com\/school\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Follow the steps to log in to your existing ServiceNSW account. This is the same account you may already use for your digital driver\u2019s licence. If you don\u2019t have a ServiceNSW account, refer to ServiceNSW to create one.<\/li>\n<li>If the NSW School Vaccination Program Portal page doesn\u2019t appear <strong>try clicking the link in Step 1 again<\/strong> after signing into your Service NSW account.<\/li>\n<li>Complete or confirm your profile with your personal details.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the School Vaccination Consent Form for your child\/ren. You will need to:\n<ol>\n<li>Enter your child\u2019s personal details<\/li>\n<li>Provide the Medicare card details for you and your child<\/li>\n<li>Read the linked Parent Information Sheet and privacy statement<\/li>\n<li>Provide consent<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Consent for Year 7 students\u2019 vaccinations were due Wednesday 15 February. <\/strong><strong><br \/>\nIf you would like your Year 7 student to be vaccinated through the school program please provide consent as soon as possible if you have not done so already.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you or your child do not have a Medicare card, consent can still be provided by requesting a paper-based consent form directly from your child\u2019s school.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on routine school vaccinations, please visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.health.nsw.gov.au\/schoolvaccination\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you require information in your language, please visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.health.nsw.gov.au\/immunisation\/Pages\/school_vaccination_language.aspx\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If your child misses a school vaccination clinic, the school immunisation nurses will try to catch them up at their next visit. Alternately, you can speak to a GP or pharmacist about catching up on vaccination.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on school vaccination visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.health.nsw.gov.au\/schoolvaccination\">here<\/a>\u00a0or if you have any questions, please contact South Eastern Sydney Public Health Unit on\u00a09382 8333 (Ext 2).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Update regarding Year 7 &amp; Year 8 Catch-up HPV Vaccinations<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>From February 2023, <strong>only one dose of HPV vaccination is required <\/strong>to be fully vaccinated. Previously, Year 7 students were offered two doses of the HPV vaccine in the NSW School Vaccination Program. The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has reviewed recent international evidence and has advised that a single dose of the HPV vaccine gives the same protection as two dose course.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you have already consented to your child receiving two doses of HPV vaccine, they will only receive one dose.<\/p>\n<p>If your child is in Year 8 or above and previously missed their second dose of HPV vaccine, they are now considered fully vaccinated and do not require a second dose.<\/p>\n<p>A small number of students who are immunocompromised are still recommended to receive a three-dose course of HPV vaccine.
