Entries for the 2020 SCEGGS Music Eisteddfod are currently open to all students who are having voice or instrument tuition.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The SCEGGS Music Eisteddfod is a competition open to ALL musicians currently taking private lessons, inside or outside of school.<\/li>\n<li>Entry into the Eisteddfod is FREE.<\/li>\n<li>All Elective Music students are preparing for participation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Heats<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Heats will be held in Week 7 during regular Music class lessons for Primary students, Year 7 students and Elective Music students.<\/li>\n<li>All other heats will be held during regular class lesson time.<\/li>\n<li>Students will perform for the external, specialist adjudicator in a music studio &#8211; there is no audience.<\/li>\n<li>Due to timetabling restrictions, adjudicators do not provide written reports or any other feedback.<\/li>\n<li>The adjudicator\u2019s decision is final, and no discussion will be entered into.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Entry forms can be accessed on <a href=\"https:\/\/sceggs.instructure.com\/\">Cognito<\/a> or at the Music Department.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>2020 Margot Anthony (Budd) &#8220;Beyond the Curriculum&#8221; Award<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The applications for the Margot Anthony (Budd) &#8220;Beyond the Curriculum Award&#8221; are now open.<\/p>\n<p>There are two awards given each year to Elective Music students from Years 8 to 11. Students need to demonstrate a developing musical interest in an area outside of their classroom studies. If you haven\u2019t responded to the email sent regarding your involvement, please do so, or your name will be removed from the roll.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Music Tuition Reminders:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>A reminder for <strong>ALL<\/strong> students who are part of the Music Tuition (instrumental and voice) program to do the following.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Secondary students must:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>advise their classroom teachers, at least 48 hours in advance, that they will be absent for a music lesson;<\/li>\n<li>understand that the class teacher has the right to ask the student to change their music lesson time if an excursion, incursion, test or assessment task is scheduled during that lesson;<\/li>\n<li>catch up on any missed work in their own time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Curriculum News<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>In Week 6, elective Music students in Years 10 and 11 will be participating in a workshop with psychologist Sarah Marshall.\u00a0 The workshop addresses performance anxiety and provide students with useful and practical strategies.\u00a0 This is particularly helpful as students are preparing their performance items for the SCEGGS Eisteddfod.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Bugles Rehearsal<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Click below to hear a sample of Bugles rehearsal!<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Pauline Chow<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Head of Music<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Entries close tomorrow for the 2020 SCEGGS Music Eisteddfod! \u00a0 Be sure to submit your application before Friday 28 February.
