{"id":9460,"date":"2022-11-10T08:44:45","date_gmt":"2022-11-09T21:44:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/sceggs\/?post_type=article&#038;p=9460"},"modified":"2022-11-10T12:05:54","modified_gmt":"2022-11-10T01:05:54","slug":"music-matters-108","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/sceggs\/article\/music-matters-108\/","title":{"rendered":"Music Matters"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><strong>Musicale 4<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Our final Musicale for 2022 will take place on Thursday 17 November at 6pm in the Great Hall (Week 6).\u00a0 The ensembles featured in this concert are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>String Power<\/li>\n<li>Primary String Octet<\/li>\n<li>Bugles<\/li>\n<li>Training Band<\/li>\n<li>Glennie Percussion<\/li>\n<li>Van Reyk Percussion<\/li>\n<li>Contemporary Strings<\/li>\n<li>Clarion Band<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Letters (see a copy <a href=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/56\/2022\/11\/Musicale-4-letter.pdf\">here<\/a>) have been sent to secondary students and families from both secondary and primary school with further information about this performance.\u00a0 The concert is free, and we invite all parents to come and enjoy the music.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Gondwana National Choirs <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Congratulations to Eva Harris (Year 12) and Olivia Flanagan (Year 5) who have both successfully auditioned for Gondwana National Choirs.\u00a0 Hundreds of young choral singers from all over Australia go through a rigorous audition process of performance and sight singing for these highly sought after places. These national music exams require thorough preparation and students are to be congratulated for working hard to prepare so well. Each girl brought a non-string playing friend and performed a short piece for her peers, accompanied by Ms Heidi Jones. Cello tutor Ms Amelia McCluney performed with student cellists Elizabeth Teoh, Georgina Auld, Victoria Lincoln, Akansha Singh, Olivia Roberts, Giselle Wharton and Ying Huang for this toe-tapping tune. Well done, girls! \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9464 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/56\/2022\/11\/PrimaryCelloEnsembleT4-e1667874320729.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Week 5\u2019s Assembly Performance Lux Strings<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Lux Strings is a chamber ensemble of students in Year 9 who perform unconducted and the girls worked hard to prepare <em>\u201cSummer\u201d<\/em> from \u201cThe Four Seasons\u201d by Vivaldi which they performed at the Year 3-11 Assembly<em>. <\/em>The girls then performed it again for hundreds of delegates from all over Australia at the Positive Schools Conference in the city this week. Congratulations to Bondi Barlow, Sophia Barry, Emma Chang, Zara Clarke, Scarlett Stapledon and Cassandra Davies. See it on Vimeo <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/767883715\/29c8dd167e\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mrs Anne Sweeney<br \/>\nDirector of Strings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Brass Ensemble \u2013 Remembrance Day Service<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Congratulations to members of the Brass Ensemble who played for the Remembrance Day service at Paddington Woollhara RSL last Sunday.\u00a0 The Brass Ensemble consists of: Annie Furness (Trombone) (Year 11), Samantha Millin (French horn) (Year 9), Maggie Harper (Euphonium) (Year 10), Christine Chen (Year 9) and Lucy McInnes (both Trumpets) (Year 9).\u00a0 The girls played a series of hymns for the service, providing musical accompaniment to the laying of wreaths by members of the community.\u00a0 Special guest vocalist, Eva Harris (Year 11) joined the Brass ensemble and was accompanied by them as she sang the National Anthem.\u00a0 A special &#8220;shout-out&#8221;
