The English Department were delighted to see so many engaging presentations of poems, persuasive speeches and creative responses during our Years 7 \u2013 10 Assessment Block. We are always keen to encourage our students to submit their work into external competitions, and in many classes I know that the teachers have been sharing information with their classes about the prestigious Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards. The theme this year \u201cIn My Opinion\u201d offers so much scope for students to really explore their ideas and passions in the written form.<\/p>\n

Students should contact their English teacher if they are interested in submitting work for the competition, or could join the Creative Writers Group at lunchtime on a Tuesday in C6.<\/p>\n
