But we do understand that learning online can be very tiring and so if you need a screen break, please don&#8217;t feel you have to come to co-curricular music activities. Having down time, away from screens and being outside are important too!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Peripatetic Zoom Lesson Guidelines<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Peripatetic lessons via Zoom are being offered to families to maintain continuity with learning.\u00a0 If you decide to proceed with online lessons for your daughter, please note the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>There must be an agreement between you and your daughter\u2019s tutor, detailing date, time and platform for lessons (Zoom is preferable to Skype).<\/li>\n<li>For the protection of both parties, a parent\/guardian should be nearby to assist during the lesson if necessary. <strong>This is to protect both parties.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Students must let their class teachers know <u>well beforehand<\/u> if they have a music lesson during a timetabled class.<\/li>\n<li>If your daughter is unwell, please let the music tutor know.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Practical considerations:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that appropriate device and setup is confirmed well before the lesson.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the tutor has necessary contact details.<\/li>\n<li>Instruments should be tuned before the start of the lesson. Your daughter\u2019s tutor can recommend a suitable app to assist in tuning instruments.<\/li>\n<li>Consult with tutor to determine the best camera angle for the lesson.<\/li>\n<li>Quality of connection may be improved if other family members remain offline during the lesson.<\/li>\n<li>Establish a dedicated space for music lessons is useful to eliminate distractions and extraneous noise where possible.<\/li>\n<li>Student should be appropriately addressed for the lesson.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We would love to see pictures of your daughter\u2019s Zoom music lessons at home.\u00a0 If you would like to share these with our school community, please email them to <a href=\"mailto:paulinechow@sceggs.nsw.edu.au\">paulinechow@sceggs.nsw.edu.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Meet our Tutor \u2013 Lerida Delbridge<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This week, our tutor of the week is Lerida Delbridge who teaches Violin in our Music program.\u00a0 This week we asked Lerida the following questions:<\/p>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5334 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/sceggs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/56\/2021\/07\/LeridaDelbridge_T3W2-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/56\/2021\/07\/LeridaDelbridge_T3W2-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/56\/2021\/07\/LeridaDelbridge_T3W2-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/d1dfwahqlx324v.cloudfront.net\/uploads\/sites\/56\/2021\/07\/LeridaDelbridge_T3W2-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><strong>What attracted you to your instrument?\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/em>My big sister &#8211; who is 9 years older &#8211; played the violin. \u00a0I just wanted to do everything that she did! \u00a0My Dad made me a cardboard violin when I was 2 and at 3, they gave me the real thing. The rest is history!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>S<\/em><\/strong><em><strong>hare a performance highlight.<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/em>I have been fortunate to have had many performance highlights and perform in many of Europe\u2019s greatest halls.\u00a0 The most memorable was performing in the war-torn town of Mostar in 1998 in one of the first open air orchestral concerts programmed at the newly built Pavarotti Music Centre. \u00a0The concert was attended by NATO troops and communities from both sides of the conflict, with the aim of using music to start the journey of reconciliation. \u00a0NATO bombers patrolled the skies throughout the performance which was, without a doubt, one of the most extraordinary nights of my musical life.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Where has your instrument taken you?<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/em>As you can see from my previous answer, playing the violin has taken me to many wonderful places! \u00a0I remember playing for a remote Fijian community at the age of 7.
