Thank you also to the Music Department staff who assisted throughout the event.<\/p>\n<p>You may view last night&#8217;s performance via this link: <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/519718469\/3b976b6d1b\"><strong>https:\/\/vimeo.com\/519718469\/3b976b6d1b<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Week 2 Assembly Performance<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Congratulations to Astrid Girdis (Year 12) who performed her winning solo item in this week\u2019s assembly.\u00a0 Astrid is the winner of the Wran Prize for \u201cUp and Coming\u201d Vocalist and she performed \u201cSome World Far from Ours\u201d by Sydney based composer Sally Whitwell.\u00a0 The text of the song is based on the poem \u201cTo Jane\u201d by Percy Bysshe Shelley and was dedicated to Jane Williams, a woman who was the object of Shelley\u2019s infatuation.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to Bondi Barlow (Year 8) who played the introduction and recession pieces in assembly on the Piano.\u00a0 Bondi played excerpts from Joseph Haydn\u2019s \u201cFantasia\u201d.\u00a0 Well done Bondi!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Upcoming Events:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>New Parents Dinner \u2013 LUX5 performing in the Great Hall on 5 May\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>The Primary School present the Years 5 &amp;6 Musical: <em>Our Home<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>This play has been created with a mix of old and new Australian songs. Inspiration came initially from Dorothy Mackellar\u2019s &#8220;My County&#8221;, linked with some contemporary indigenous poems. This is the story of Holly and Laura, two sisters from the Northern Territory who move to the city of Sydney with their family, finding home and belonging in both places.
