All students performed beautifully in the concert which featured students of Ms Natalia Deasy, one of our lovely piano tutors. Such performance opportunities are valuable experiences which help build confidence in sharing music with an audience. Congratulations to all students involved!<\/p>\n

\n<\/a><\/div>\n<\/span><\/div><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/a>Primary String Studio Concerts<\/strong><\/h4>\nSixty-five talented string players from Year 1 to Year 6 performed in three String Studio Concerts this week in the Primary Music Room. The performances were very warmly received by large audiences of parents, siblings, relatives and friends. Performances of this nature, in a safe and supportive environment, are vital for a musician\u2019s development. \u00a0Congratulations to all the performers, to the music tutors who prepared them so well and to Ms Catherine McKay, Ms Stephanie Holmes and Ms Heidi Jones who accompanied the more advanced musicians in each concert.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/a>QVB Classical Pop-up<\/strong><\/h4>\nBuilding on the vision to bring music into public spaces, the Queen Victoria Building and the not-for-profit organisation Concerts for All organise performance opportunities called QVB Classical Pop-Up on the fourth\u00a0Saturday of every month showcasing classical music on various instruments, including the new QVB grand piano.<\/p>\n

\n<\/a>Austa Cello Masterclass<\/strong><\/h4>\nThe internationally acclaimed cellist Maximilian Hornung is visiting Australia and Sydney to present recitals and perform as a soloist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.<\/p>\n
On Friday June 19 from 3.30pm at Meriden School in Strathfield, the Australian String Teachers\u2019 Association (AUSTA) is hosting two public cello masterclasses with Maximilian Hornung, featuring talented young cellists who will work with him on playing, interpretation and artistry. This masterclass is a wonderful opportunity for both primary and secondary cellists to see extraordinary playing up close and to gain insight from a world class virtuoso!<\/p>\n

SYO Winter School is suitable for any student in primary or high school who plays an orchestral instrument, from those in their first year of playing through to AMEB Grade 7 or equivalent.\u00a0Students will be placed in ensembles with peers of similar experience level. SYO Winter School is open to all \u2013 you don\u2019t need to submit an audition or be enrolled in SYO\u2019s weekly program to attend!<\/p>\n
