Cafeteria Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><strong>Improving our School Cafeteria <br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As a result of parent feedback and SRC Student Survey recommendations, we are pleased to advise that we have commenced a refresh of the Cafeteria, including measures to ensure that the menu and products offered are aligned with the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy as well as the opportunity for feedback and self-examination during the year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Many people have been<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> working hard<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> on amending the School Cafeteria<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> over the past few months.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> We <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">have<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> been<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, and will continue<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> to look <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">at the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">menu offerings, quality, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">service<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> environmental impact.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">e<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> have fantastic new staff including<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> Mel, our Catering Site Manager who is supervising Cafeteria operations, as well as our talented Chef Phillipe who has been getting to know the students while working away on creating<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> their favourites (like the egg and bacon rolls and gourmet muffins!)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s part of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">our<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> continual improvement <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">strategy, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">we will <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">maintain<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> efforts to ensure that our students have the best possible <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">food and beverage <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">options<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\"> To date, we have made a number of amendments in the Cafeteria including:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square\">\n<li>A strong emphasis on promoting healthier food choices for the students through marketing (use of screens and labelling on all our items advising students which items are every day or occasional foods)<\/li>\n<li>An overhaul of how we package our lunches, reducing\u00a0 single use plastics<\/li>\n<li>A threefold increase to our menu and food items by concentrating on Gluten Free and healthier grab-and-go options including more vegetables and fruits<\/li>\n<li>Improved signage and clearer pricing<\/li>\n<li>Staff training, particularly in relation to following the NSW Healthy School Canteen guidelines<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening relationships with our suppliers to provide better products<\/li>\n<li>Developing fun and themed days for the kids (Groovy 60s day will be held on Wednesday 11 March )<\/li>\n<li>Working on reducing food wastage and adhering to the School\u2019s recycling policy<\/li>\n<li>Better communication with students regarding menu preferences as well as feedback on improvements they would like to see in the cafeteria<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As well as purchasing
