TAS News – 9DT Excursion to Penrith Regional Gallery

The Year 9 Design and Technology classes attended the “Pattern and Print: Easton Pearson Archive” and “A Tangled Bank” Exhibitions at the Penrith Regional Gallery on Wednesday 30 March 2022.

The aim of the excursion was to give students an insight into technical innovations, bespoke digital fabric designs and ethical manufacturing. They had a Guided Exhibition Tour and attended a workshop where they explored the creative use of textiles through eco-printing with natural materials, and other contemporary and traditional surface decoration techniques. The design-led exhibitions and workshop gave the students an insight into the history of Australian fashion design.

The excursion was full of inspiration, creativity, and collaboration for our students. The students enjoyed new experiences and attained new knowledge and skills which they will now apply to their current design projects at school.
