An Important Safety Message

Dear Families

A reminder to please slow down and be prepared to stop at all Pedestrian Crossings around SCEGGS. This is particularly important before school (6.30am – 8.30am) and after school (2.45pm – 5.30pm) as our students, staff and community members all use these pedestrian crossings.

We have recently seen a number of drivers fail to stop when pedestrians are within two metres of the crossing and this is extremely concerning. We do not want recent near misses to turn into tragedies. Please take care on the roads and drive safely as there are over 2000 pedestrian incidents on Australian roads annually.

A hefty fine and loss of demerit points apply when a driver fails to stop at a pedestrian crossing.
