Primary Eisteddfod Practice Challenge

All primary musicians are encouraged to be part of the Primary Eisteddfod Practice Challenge this term; forms are available in the Primary Music Room.  Students should try to practice their instruments every day in Weeks 3, 4, 5 and 6 in the lead up to the SCEGGS Eisteddfod Heats in Week 7. Even a few minutes of practice counts! If girls can play their instrument every day without missing a day over 4 weeks, they will be awarded certificates as follows:

7-Day Streak Bronze Award
14-Day Streak Silver Award
21-Day Streak Gold Award
28-Day Streak Platinum Award

Please have a chat with your daughter to confirm which piece she and her tutor have decided that she will perform in the SCEGGS Eisteddfod Heats in Week 7.

Labelling Instrument Cases

We now have over 200 musical instruments at SCEGGS across the week! Please ensure that your daughter’s instrument case is clearly labelled with her name and phone number. Sometimes the wrong instrument can be taken home if cases are not labelled clearly.

Sing and String Workshop

SCEGGS choristers and Amati Strings will collaborate with string players and choristers from Sydney Grammar School College Street campus for the Sing and String Workshop to be held on Sunday 8 March. More information coming soon for students to apply to be involved for a fun day of rehearsals, musical connection and an informal concert for parents.

Family Concert for Primary Students

On  Saturday 14 March and Sunday 15 March, the Australian Chamber Orchestra will present a joyful family concert for primary-aged children filled with the brilliance, wit and warmth of Mozart, Haydn and their musical friends. The 30-minute concert introduces young listeners to different musical instruments and styles, followed by a hands-on creative play session and music-making activities. Attending quality concerts such as this, featuring professional musicians up close, is a wonderful way to inspire and energise your daughter as she progresses on her own journey playing a musical instrument.
