What an amazing couple of weeks! First, Prep, Kindergarten and Stage One had the ‘extra’ ordinary opportunity of experiencing National Simultaneous Storytime. They watched as an astronaut read Philip Bunting’s latest book ‘Give Me Some Space’, from a space station, in space!! The students also had lots of fun doing activities, dancing, making space helmets and blasting off in the Shellharbour Anglican College rocket. Then, author/illustrator Gus Gordon came to visit. He shared how he writes and draws to create wonderful award-winning stories. Prep to Stage Three sat captivated as he explained what he does and how he does it. Stage Three also had the privilege of workshopping story ideas with Gus.

Stage Two have been investigating length in Mathematics. 3/4S have been finding objects taller and smaller than a metre…so off they went to Prep to see how they measured up!

The SASSA Cross Country Carnival was held on Friday 21 May. Students left in the rain but fortunately the weather cleared by the time they arrived at Willandra Cross Country Course. While it was a fresh start, the 48 students seemed unaware of the cold and were ready to get racing. The course is a challenging one run through paddocks and hills but students worked really hard and should be so proud of themselves. A huge congratulations to the 13 students who made it through to CIS which will be held at Eastern Creek Raceway on 10 June. A special mention to Jackson Fraser and Maiya Hewitt who won their age group. Thank you to all the parents who were able to come and support the students on the day. Shellharbour came second overall on the day and represented the school admirably.
