Junior School News
Throughout term 1, 3/4S students are investigating the life cycles of sunflower seeds which have been planted in the Community garden and various mini creatures. Our classroom is now home to tadpoles and a frog! This week children were able to demonstrate their curiosity towards the creepy, crawly phasmids (or stick insects.) All children bravely allowed one to crawl on their fingers, hands or even face!

Kindergarten Secondary School Helpers
KR and KL are loving having secondary school helpers come into our classroom to assist us on Tuesday afternoons. In KR they are helping with our unit work. Last week KR and the secondary students explored the kinder garden and planted seeds together. In KL they are helping with art lessons. Last week they supported students to create beautiful portraits of their families. Mrs Rose and Mrs Luke have been impressed by the students’ kindness and patience when guiding their younger peers. Georgia from our year 10 class took the time to bring her own kinder art book created when she was taught by Mrs Luke eleven years ago. KL were impressed with her kinder portrait and other creative artworks.

Kindergarten students loved Library this week! Students read ‘Piranhas Don’t Eat Bananas’ by Aaron Blabey. They also researched on the internet what Piranhas really eat. They are omnivores and they eat smaller fish, snails, insects and aquatic plants.

3/4S are thoroughly enjoying reading Rowan of Rin as their class novel. Students created their own map of the village of Rin based on descriptions in the first few chapters. In small groups, students worked collaboratively on their map which will be used as a classroom display throughout the term.
