Head of Junior School
I am very thankful for our great start to 2021. We have over 50 new students in the Junior School, a full Prep and many new programs underway. Most of all there is a happy and energetic vibe around the place. Kindergarten children have found great play areas, 3-6 courts are alive with cricket and soccer and the library is active at lunch with a variety of opportunities.
With some relaxation of COVID-19 regulations this term we are able to welcome parents and carers of Prep, Kindergarten and Stage 1 onto the school site for drop off and collection. I am looking forward to rules relaxing further so that the morning assembly, class helpers, special information sessions and other face to face events can go ahead. One positive thing – this Friday’s swimming carnival is open for parents and family to visit and support the children. I look forward to seeing many parents there at Oak Flats pool.
This year we have introduced a new leadership role in the Junior School. Mr Matt Low is the Pastoral Care coordinator for Prep to Year 6. Mr Low will coordinate the Anglicare counselling procedure, provide support and resources to staff and students, and work across the school in developing our wellbeing framework.
We also welcome Mrs Shannon Peters, our new PE teacher in the Junior School, and Mrs Julie Rosten, teachers’ aide in Prep and Kindergarten.
Instead of our usual parent information evening, we will hold individual Zoom sessions in week 5 so that staff can catch up with parents and carers early in the term. More details will be sent via email in the coming weeks.
