From the Principal

Our Upper School Office has been showered with hearts this week in honour of International Women’s Day (IWD), which is celebrated worldwide tomorrow, Friday 8 March. The paper hearts were created by Year 9 and 10 Compass Groups in an activity designed to acknowledge and honour a woman they admire and who has positively influenced them or the world.

One name dominates the tributes. That name is ‘Mum’, handwritten with love and thoughtful messages outlining just what it is that makes each one so special. What a wonderful thing to see mothers (and several grandmothers and sisters, too) recognised as exemplars of compassion and influence by so many of their daughters.

Count her in: Invest in women. Accelerate progress.

As always, the theme for IWD this year reflects our aspirations and our ongoing work towards ensuring Pymble girls have every opportunity to realise their full potential and build better futures – for themselves, and for us all.

While our focus will always be on delivering an education that sets each student up for life, our vision and work extends to impact the workplace they will eventually enter. We continue to establish pathways, partnerships and opportunities for students to participate in all businesses, professions and industries, and to strengthen their capacity to learn, earn and lead in whichever field they choose, including emerging areas and those where women are still underrepresented.

This year, once again, we have partnered with the Australian Financial Review to promote the proven benefits of investing in women in the workplace and accelerating the progression of their careers: increased profitability, performance and productivity. Girls don’t change the world features contributions from Pymble students, staff and alumni who are leading the way in sport, AI, STEM and a range of other professions, while simultaneously lifting up others around them. It is also our platform for continuing our Chairs For Change campaign encouraging corporate Australia to replace the word Chairman with the gender-neutral term Chair. I’m especially proud of our students Iyla (Year 1), Jahle (Year 10) and Georgia (Year 12) for sharing how they are harnessing our College values of Care, Courage, Integrity, Respect and Responsibility to make the world a better place for others in our community. #PymbleProud

Next week we look forward to introducing students to another inspirational female role-model, Pymble parent and joint 2024 Australian of the Year, Professor Georgina Long AO. Prof Long will be guest speaker at our slightly belated IWD assembly, where she will talk to students about her pathway to success, women in Science, and the impact she hopes to make as Australian of the Year for her pioneering work in melanoma treatment.

Professor Long has also kindly agreed to be a mentor at our annual Alumni Networking Event, which will be held on Thursday 16 May at KPMG Barangaroo and attended by Event Ambassador and keynote speaker for the evening, Vanessa Hudson, CEO of Qantas Group and Pymble Alumna. The aim of the event is to help accelerate the careers of our young graduates by introducing them to mentors who can offer invaluable advice and professional networking opportunities across three specific stages of their careers: Career Establishment, Career Advancement, and Board Transition.

Every year, we invite mentors from within our community to attend this event, including Pymble parents, carers, alumni, and friends and partners of the College. I warmly encourage all parents and carers to consider gifting this invaluable career support to Pymble graduates, which will one day include your daughters too. Our continuity of care and support throughout our girls’ lives post-school is yet another ongoing benefit of a Pymble education.

Please keep an eye out for your invitation to attend this event as a mentor, coming to your inbox very soon!

Windows into Learning

Speaking of women of influence leads us beautifully into this week’s Windows into Learning section celebrating more of our amazing teachers at the College and the inspired work they do with your daughters.

Kindergarten STEM

“Our youngest learners were given the task of creating a 3D Duplo town map that also served as an obstacle course for their Bee-Bot robots. This experience was designed to introduce the girls to basic coding and encourage critical thinking and creatively as they designed and navigated their courses.

“The activity allowed for play and exploration of the Bee-Bots, resulting in the girls mastering their coding process independently, a truly empowering experience. The girls then applied their newly acquired skills to navigate their Bee-Bots through their town. Successes were celebrated loudly, and challenges (Bee-Bot collisions!) were met with good humour and solution-based thinking.”

Year 11 Modern History

“History at school is no longer just engaging with facts and events, but looking at the way History is constructed around us. In their unit called Representation and Commemoration of the Past, Year 11 students explore the ways history is constructed through public memorials, films and historical fiction. During an excursion to the Anzac Hyde Park Memorial, students viewed a monologue performance of War Horse and were asked to respond by spending 10 minutes writing a fictional piece from the perspective of another character referenced in the monologue. Please see below for one of the pieces of fiction written on that day.”

The Woman who sent the White Feather, by Annabel Charnock (Year 11)

They say there is no wrath like a woman scorned, yet they have not seen a woman mourn. My husband passed with courage and pride, leaving me nothing more than an angry bride. My thoughts were led to Frank and Bruce, a pair at home with a truce, ‘we will stay safe for we have too much love, for the life we have and your mother up above’. But they are nothing but cowards full and through as they hold themselves at a higher value. So I wrapped up one morning a feathered gift, with a goal of nothing more than giving my vengeance a lift. Selfishness was not a question, for my values had perished along with my husband. Bless him. My plan did work, they set off soon after, it was not less than a month before Frank lost hist father. Guilt could not consume me as I was an empty vessel, couped up at home with nothing more than my mind and this pencil.

Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate progress  – International Women’s Day 2024

Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate progress is the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day. I am proud of the way in which we are, as a Junior School, investing in each girl within our school and ensuring she is equipped with the mindset, skills and knowledge to be confident and connected in her future world.

With our focus on growing a STEM mindset we are ensuring our girls are developing their inquisitiveness, critical thinking skills, collaboration, resilience, creativity, innovation, communication and ethical and social responsibility. Empowering young women with STEM is not just about equipping them with skills; it’s about lighting their curiosity and a belief they are the architects of tomorrow’s innovations.

International Women’s Day – Our Marvellous Mathematical Mums

A huge thank you to those of you who were able to submit videos for our Mathematics is in our daily life video. I am so grateful and proud of the video you’ve created together. Please click this link to watch the video.

I will be looking to create more videos on different themes throughout the year so please look out for more invitations to be involved.

Social Responsibility

In our fast paced technical world, it’s important that we also equip our girls with an authentic sense of social compassion and responsibility. Our Sustainability club have been busy making a positive impact in our world.

A message from the Junior School Sustainability Club – Mrs Heidi Lynch & Mrs Geraldine Roberts

It has been a busy week for our Sustainability Leaders, kicking off our first Sustainability Club session by launching our own “Clean Up Pymble” event Sustainability Captains from Year 1 to 6, donned gloves and smiles as they walked the playgrounds with a mission to create a clean and natural playing environment, whilst also reducing the risk for our bird life and animals sharing the campus.

The rubbish was sorted into recyclable materials and general waste which fostered many rich conversations and sharing of ideas of how to promote recycling and limit waste within the College. We are excited to build on these ideas and see our captains inspire the wider Junior School community! We are also incredibly proud of two of our Sustainability leaders, Katelyn Gu and Sophie Ahn who volunteered on the weekend in Turramurra for Clean-up Australia day alongside their parents and Mrs Heidi Lynch and Miss Avalon Treharne. Thank you girls for being such passionate leaders.

A message from Mrs Kate Giles – Head of Wellbeing K-6

Importance of sleep

Research has shown that one of the most important tools to support learning and wellbeing is sleep. As a part of our College Wellbeing focus, your daughter recently brought home a copy of a sleep tracker and was asked to reflect honestly on her sleep habits for a week to learn more about her body and understand her needs.

In Compass Directions lessons, the girls have been discussing the importance of sleep for their physical, mental and emotional development. Adequate sleep is directly linked to improved attention span, memory consolidation, and overall cognitive function. In addition, a good night’s sleep also enhances mood regulation and emotional resilience, which are crucial aspects of the girls’ development.

Establishing healthy sleep habits during childhood not only sets a positive foundation for their current wellbeing, but it also commences lifelong practices that contribute to long term health and wellbeing. We hope that we can work together to support the girls to increase their sleep and ease their capacity to fall asleep.

Should you want further information about sleep, there are a number of resources available through the following websites:

A message from Miss Penny Charalambous – Junior School House Coordinator

During Years 3 to 6 Assembly on Monday, some of our enthusiastic House Leaders showcased a teaser of what is to come with Jump Rope for Heart. Their energy was infectious as they demonstrated some of their skipping skills and shared their excitement for this fantastic initiative.

Between Weeks 7 and 11, dedicated lunch times will be allocated for students to hone their skipping skills in preparation for the inaugural House Skipping showcase on 12th of April. This will provide an excellent opportunity for our students to have fun while promoting heart health and exploring the importance and benefits of regular movement. The next few weeks are sure to be filled with joy, laughter and community spirit as our students demonstrate their newfound skipping prowess.

We encourage you to support your child’s participation in this initiative and cheer them on! Look for the QR code on the Parent and Guardian Guide and keychain coming home after our House picnic lunch on Friday, when we will officially launch the program.

IWD Assembly

On Tuesday March 5 the Year 8 Middle School Leadership team hosted a Middle School assembly to celebrate International Women’s Day. The assembly celebrated the joint International Women’s Day theme of ‘Inspiring Inclusivity and Inspiring Creativity’. Assembly was truly an inclusive affair with Mahboba Rawi, founder of the charity Mahboba’s Promise attending the assembly and sharing her story of resilience and determination as well as acknowledging the important role women play in developing countries such as Afghanistan. The Middle School also celebrated with a creative Year 7 and Year 8 student lead K-Pop dance to the song ‘Girls of the year’, a showcase of the IWD art projects and even a Year 8 House Leader rap written by Harriet Gregory in Year 8. Middle School Students also decorated the Collonade with handwritten postcards that showcased their IWD pledges for each other, the college and the wider community.

Finally, we would like to acknowledge and thank our Year 8 Middle School leaders, Harriet Gregory, Ginny Makan, Ariana Azizmohammad and Estelle Lee for planning and hosting our Middle School Assembly. Our Year 7 and Year 8 K-Pop dance troop, Gloria Yang, Sophie Gui, Reese Zhang, Cecelia Zhou, Feifei Wang and Claire Fang for choregraphing and showcasing their dance ability and our Year 8 House Leaders Jamilla Soo, Sarah Joung, Selina Kerin, Sophie Heap, Amalia Bond, Aurora Zhang, Eleanor Ramsay and Claudia Wyatt for their house spirit and Pymble pride during the IWD Rap.

Middle School Office Move

Middle school office is getting a new home! Starting next week, the office will be moving to under the Chapel formerly known as the Uniform shop. Main entrance will be located on the side closest to the Music building.

We are looking forward to the change in scenery and seeing the girls in our new space.

Year 8 Dance Incursion

On Wednesday Year 8 participated in an all-day dance incursion lead by our dance and PDHPE staff. It was an energetic and fun-filled day which ended with a House dance off. Dance is an engaging way for our students to explore their creativity, build confidence, and make new connections.

It is wonderful this week to welcome back our Vision Valley adventurers to the Pymble campus. We loved seeing the girls reconnecting with their friends and settling back into the school routine. When I met with the Vision Valley girls yesterday prior to our welcome back tunnel it was great to hear a chant of “take me back.” A wonderful reflection of the positive experience the girls had during their residential program. Thank you to all parents for engaging with this program and to the Vision Valley staff for their care of the girls over the last four weeks.

Upper School students have been busy on and off campus. Congratulations to our rowers, tennis players, Addams family cast members and to all the girls who participated in this week’s Cross Country carnival for their commitment and involvement in these co-curricular activities.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day this week, compass groups have reflected on women who inspire them. Shout out to all the women around the world who have had an influence on our students, particularly all the mums. It is lovely to see how many girls are inspired by the love, care and influence of their mothers.

From the Head of Senior School

As the Senior School students approach more assessments towards the end of term, it is timely to consider how best to prepare and how to maintain energy and focus. Situations can become stressful when the workload increases and the most effective way to manage this is to get organised.

Some strategies include going on a ‘media diet’.  When the students are studying it is best to switch off social media and Tik Tok clips and let the focus be on the work at hand. Time is precious, so if you’re committing to study or work, ensure that time is being used wisely.

Don’t wait until you feel entertained by the subject matter to begin your work. The truth is that we become interested in what we know more about, and deeper knowledge of a subject will make the content more engaging. It’s never too late to start preparing, but steady routines established earlier will always be more effective.

Working collaboratively is also motivating. Teaching your peers, providing feedback and listening to their perspective will challenge and enrich your understanding.

As always, a well balanced diet, lots of water and plenty of sleep are also the key factors for academic growth.

Cross Country

Congratulations to all Senior girls who completed the Cross Country course on Monday. It was a lovely morning of athletes pushing themselves to achieve personal bests while others were happy to run the course. Many thanks to the Senior girls who lead with such enthusiasm and fun, creating a fun carnival-like atmosphere.

NSWMUN

Congratulations to all students recently involved in the inaugural NSWMUN Conference, held at Pymble. Please find below our student report from Year 11 student leader, Catherine:

This year, Pymble hosted the inaugural NSW Model United Nations Conference, spanning from the 9th to the 10th of February. Friday evening featured a series of workshops and guest speakers, while Saturday was dedicated to full-day committee debates. Delegates from across NSW gathered at Pymble, and the secretariat, composed of diligent high school students who dedicated their summer holidays, played a pivotal role in bringing this vision to fruition. Approximately 100 high school students actively participated in the event.

The conference’s theme, ‘Bridging Nations,’ emphasised the significance of connecting nations to empower youth in constructing a united world. Programs like Model United Nations provide young individuals with crucial diplomatic skills, a global perspective, and a sense of responsibility. ‘Bridging Nations’ aspires to equip the next generation to collaboratively navigate global challenges and foster a more harmonious world.

On Friday, delegates attended competitive MUN workshops led by Angus McGregor, the 2021 winner of Evatt Nationals (Australia’s most prestigious MUN Competition), and Justin Qin, the top performer in Evatt in NSW. Activities such as SPECTRUM and Middle Ground engaged delegates with a variety of questions about cultural identity, the international community, and hopes for the future. On Sunday, delegates were divided into three streams based on actual UN Committees: SOCHUM, ECOSOC, and UNSC. They debated their prepared resolutions and were challenged with an unseen resolution in the second committee session, with 20 minutes for preparation. The culmination occurred in John Reid Hall, where delegates from all streams engaged in their final committee debate in the General Assembly.

The conference received  positive feedback, marking two successful days. This year’s conference was open to students from Years 8 to 12 in NSW. As we look ahead, we hope the NSW Inter-school MUN Conference continues to expand, encouraging broader participation and involving more students in the future.” – Written by Catherine Shi (Year 11)

From the Boarding School

Friday evening was a wonderful celebration our Boarding family with the opening of Avonmoore followed by Icebreaker.

As you know, Avonmoore is our newest boarding house and home to our 16, Year 7 Boarders. It was wonderful to hear them recount their favourite things about the house with air conditioning, a comfy lounge and lots of friends featuring highly. We were also honoured to have ex-principal and inaugural Avonmoore resident Mrs Gillian Moore and her family join us at this special event along with the Chair of the College Board, Mr Chris Fydler and the wider Pymble family.

The opening of Avonmoore was followed by the College Icebreaker and I am delighted to report that we had more than 50 Boarding families in attendance! It was a great chance to catch up and make new friends. A highly successful ‘post’ Icebreaker at Pymble Pub followed and by all reports it was a fabulous night.

Welcome to our BFFs

While our parents were enjoying a night together, our Boarders also took the opportunity to invite a day girl friend for dinner and fun. It was a lovely chance for our Boarders to show off their boarding ‘home’ and a great opportunity to strengthen the friendships.

Sporting Superstars

Our Boarders are a sporty bunch and we are so impressed by their commitment and expertise. Sunday was the culmination of the Rowing season and we couldn’t be prouder of the tenacity and dedication that our rowing Boarders have demonstrated over more than two terms. It was also lovely to see our non-competing Boarders living Pymble Pulse and supporting the team.

This was followed by the Cross Country on Monday and it was great to see our Boarders leading the way again. Special congratulations to the following Boarders who placed in the event including Lana Pike and Quinn Parry Okenden. We look forward to supporting these girls as they participate at igsa in Term 2.

On Wednesday we celebrated the talent Kawane sisters, with Giselle (Year 12) and Sophia (Year 9) competing at Tildesley Tennis. Sophia played exceptionally well and made it to the third round.  Giselle also played incredibly well and was knocked out of the fifth round of the tournament in a hard-fought match. Well done Giselle and Sophia!

Loving Love It – Mrs White Deputy Director of Boarding

Last weekend BFF and invite a day girl event was well attended.  The Boarders who invited Day Girls were treated to a pizza night. The day girls always love this opportunity and it is something that we will try to do each term. On Saturday afternoon a trip to Chatswood and Max Brenner was a highlight as was the trip to Wylie’s Baths on Sunday. This weekend we are looking forward to seeing the Addams Family production on Saturday evening and then heading to Watsons Bay on Sunday. The previously planned trip to Manly has been postponed due to the State Surf Life Saving Championships being held over the weekend.  We have been advised to steer clear as it will be busy.

We are also excited to announce that we have secured 20 tickets to the Waratahs match on Saturday 16 March.

View From My Window

Hi, my name is Eleanor (Nell), and I am a Year 8 Boarder at Pymble. I come from a tiny town six hours west from Sydney, Quandialla. Quandialla has a population of about 100 people and award-winning cinematographer, Don McAlpine was born and raised there. Quandialla has a farming and railway history and still has big grain silos, a pub, a 25m pool and a school with just 15 students. The nearby Weddin Mountains have great bush walks, but the main attraction is the cave where the bush ranger, Ben Hall, hid from the police. The money which Ben Hall stole (equivalent to around $1 million dollars today!) has never been recovered and is thought to be stowed somewhere in the area. I also love the beautiful views from the Ben Hall’s walk.

I live on a farm with my mum, dad and brother Al, as well as our four kelpies Sam, Max, Bully, Bro and our puppy Jack Russel, Quinn, two horses, two cats, three chickens and 16 guinea fowl. The stock we run are sheep, cattle and goats.

When I am at home, I love to help dad on the farm along with my brother. We spend hours mustering and yard work. I love spending time with my brother going for drives and riding our motorbikes.

When I look out my window, I can see our chickens and guinea fowl running and digging up Mum’s freshly planted garden. Then I see mum tidying up the garden. The dogs in the distance are howling and my puppy is digging up everything. I can see Al starting up his motorbike with a dog on the back and dad is rounding up sheep for a long day of tagging tomorrow.

What I love about being home is spending time with my dog, Quinn and my two cats. I also love visiting the horses, visiting my neighbours on my motorbike and going for walks with the dogs. I also love the beautiful views from Ben Hall’s walk. I enjoy the peace and quiet of farm, the rainwater and watching the dogs and cats play together.

When I return to Boarding, I feel lots of different emotions, sad, nervous, excited, refreshed and excited to hear about all my friend’s holidays and what they did.

Boarder of the Week

We are so lucky to call Phoebe one of our Boarders! Currently in Year 9, she is pure delight – committed to her studies and sport, kind, inclusive and caring. She is helpful, considerate and good fun. Phoebe maintains one of the tidiest (and most stylish!) rooms in Boarding and can always be relied on to complete any task to a high standard in a timely manner. A keen participant in the Love It program, a superstar at Boarders Get Baking and an outstanding supporter of ‘Pymble Pulse’, Phoebe has the admiration of us all.

The Pymble-Gordon, Wahroonga and Turramurra Uniting Churches warmly invites Pymble staff, students and parents to come along to an interactive, reflective immersion called ‘The Easter Experience’.

The Easter Experience will run across four days, with local primary school students, including Year 4 Pymble students, coming to visit.

Members of the public are also welcome to come to the Gordon Church (8 Cecil St, Gordon, cnr Pacific Hwy) at the following times to be immersed in the first century world.

The installations, rooms and experiences are appropriate for all ages, interactive and designed to help us look inward and reflect on the cosmic significance of Jesus’ death and Resurrection as we near the end of Lent and approach the holy times of Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Resurrection Sunday. See you there! 😊

A time to fast,

a time to pray,

a time to look inward

and draw on God-given courage and resilience.

As we enter the holy month of Ramadan, and continue in the season of Lent, nearing the holy times of Passover and Easter, I invite you to look inward, to pray and reflect, and to draw on the courage and resilience that helps us to live our lives “to the full”.

This week in our chapel services, I have been telling the students the story of the unstoppable woman who stopped Jesus.

This is the story of an incredibly courageous and resilient woman who had immense faith.

This unnamed woman, we are told in the gospels of Matthew 9:20-22; Mark 5:25-34 and Luke 8:45-48, had been suffering for 12 years with ongoing bleeding.

This is why she is sometimes known as “the woman with an issue of blood”.

She had knocked on every doctor’s door and tried every treatment, but nothing had helped.

There seemed to be no possible end to her suffering.

She was socially isolated, possibly shunned, and from the Ancient Near Eastern perspective, seen as ‘unclean’.

However, none of this stopped her search for a cure. She knew that healing was possible and that her life should not have to continue in this limited, unfulfilling way.

As I told the students in chapel this week, this woman had heard that Jesus of Nazareth was in the area. He was traveling through, bringing with him a message of peace, forgiveness and compassion, especially for the poor, the meek and the suffering.

Not only that – he had been healing people wherever he went.

This woman had such faith, and resilience, and courage, that she had a plan. It was a very simple but powerful plan.

“If I just touch his clothes”, she thought to herself, “I will be healed”.

So the woman goes out into public, where she should not rightly be.

She follows the crowd who is following this man Jesus, whom she is sure will be able to heal her – even with just a touch of his cloak.

Driven by something that is deep inside her, some urge to keep going and not settle for the life that she has been living, she pushes through the crowd of men, women and children who are crowding around Jesus.

Finally, she manages to get close enough.

She reaches out her hand, and touches the very edge of his cloak.

At that moment, the writer of Mark tells us;

“Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.”

And Jesus stops.

The text tells us that Jesus realised that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”

Then the woman, knowing that she is healed, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth.

Her whole, shameful, messy, lonely story.

Jesus said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

What a beautiful moment – the unstoppable woman who stops Jesus.

As we journey together as a community towards Easter, into Ramadan, towards Passover, into Maha Shivrati on March 8, and indeed as we acknowledge International Women’s Day this week, let us remember the unstoppable woman who stopped Jesus.

My prayer for each of our students, and indeed for each of us, is that we will listen to that voice of God inside us, that is urging you to grow, to continue to transform, to learn, to push on, to not give up, to seek healing.

And that we will reach out to those around us who can offer hope, support, healing and love.

Take courage from the unstoppable woman, and know that God, too, will always stop for you – especially in the hard times.

Amen.

From the Community Engagement Team

From the Community Engagement Team

Happy International Women’s Day (for tomorrow…) to our Pymble community.

It is with mixed emotions that I announce I am leaving Pymble. It has been an incredible journey, and I am truly grateful for the experiences, collaborations, and memories I have built with the College community.

Reflecting on the past eight and a half years, I am humbled by the opportunity to have been part of such a dedicated and passionate team of professionals at Pymble, especially the Community Engagement team which I have been proud to lead, and who will always have a special place in my heart.

The amazing Community Engagement team (minus some who were away that day)!

I would also like to express my gratitude to you – our wonderful community of parents and carers – many of whom I have worked closely with over the years, for your commitment to our mission and vision and giving up countless hours to volunteer your time to support the College. Working with such a passionate group has been one of the highlights of my time at Pymble, and I am proud of all that we have done together for our own community, and those who need it most via our charity fundraising.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to you for your support, friendship, and dedication. I know that the Pymble community will continue to flourish, and I wish you all the very best for the future.

While I am leaving Pymble as a staff member, I remain a Pymble parent and a huge cheerleader for this amazing school, and so I know I will continue to bump into you around campus or on the sporting fields.

Tomorrow marks my final day with the College, coinciding fittingly with International Women’s Day. I take great pride in our collective efforts over the years, emphasising the imperative of advancing gender equity. Pymble stands as a forward-thinking organisation, and I appreciate the support from our board and senior leadership team. Their backing has empowered our marketing and communications initiatives to utilise our influence for the greater good, advocating for positive global change, especially concerning issues affecting girls and women. As this is my final newsletter column, I am delighted to highlight the official launch of our 2024 International Women’s Day (IWD) campaign tomorrow.

This year, we are again undertaking significant and courageous initiatives to drive meaningful change for our girls and all young women now, and in the years to come. Our objective is to persist in leveraging our influence positively to convey a powerful message to corporate Australia. Our girls, rightfully, anticipate an equitable playing field in the professional world, and we realise that true impact requires stepping out of our comfort zones and embracing transformative actions.

For a sneak peek you can view our 2024 International Women’s Day campaign on our website, including our ongoing partnership with the Australian Financial Review. We have created the second edition of our IWD Magazine for the business world celebrating the strengths and skills of incredible female role models, our Pymble girls and alumni and highlighting areas where we have made considerable progress and those that still need work as we aim for true equality.

Thank you once again for being a part of this incredible journey.

It’s our time. Watch us change the world.

On Saturday 2 March, Pymble achieved a total of 14 wins, one draw and 18 losses. Overall, it was a fantastic day of Badminton. Angelina Lee (Year 12), Captain of Badminton interviewed Pymble 3 on their experience competing in their match and shares her report below:

“This week Pymble 3 shared an exciting recount of their successful match against Danebank. This week’s game once again demonstrated Pymble’s unwavering enthusiasm and remarkable teamwork. After an unforgettable final doubles match, Pymble emerged triumphant with a narrow score of 26 to 24, securing a 3 to 2 victory.

Congratulations to Pymble 3 for their win!”

Some student reflections from Pymble 2 regarding their match:

“Be more creative by varying the types of shots” – Ruthia Moore (Year 11)

“Understanding the rhythm of the game” – Allison Wang (Year 11)

“When facing aggressive opponents, it’s important not to match their aggression because you can get stuck. Instead, consider slowing down a bit and focus on reclaiming the attacking position,” – Carly Yiu (Year 12)

Icebreaker 2024 Survey

Icebreaker 2024 Survey

Thank you to all parents who attended our 2024 Icebreaker last Friday night. We are delighted to share that this year was our biggest Icebreaker ever with nearly 650 parents and carers gathering on Gloucester Lawn to toast a new Pymble year.

We are always seeking to improve the quality of our events and your experience is important to us. If you could please take our three-minute survey then we can ensure our events continue to improve. We would also appreciate hearing from those who couldn’t attend last week to learn how we can better support parents to attend in the future.

Thank you in advance for your time.

The Magazine 2022 is now available!

The Magazine 2022 is now available!

The Magazine 2022 is finally available! We apologise for the lateness of the release of this publication, however, our timelines were pushed back due to matters out of our control.

This year, we are offering you three different options to view, download or obtain a hard copy of the The Magazine 2022.

To provide a more environmentally and family friendly alternative, this year we are giving families the option of viewing/downloading a digital version where once downloaded you can bookmark across synchronised devices, for example Apple Books and/or Google Play.

  1. View/download the web/device-friendly version (30MB).
  2. View/download the high-resolution version (240MB).
  3. Order your hard copy.

If you would like a hard copy version, please complete the order form. For printing purposes, we will need all orders submitted by Friday 15 March.

Our aim, which we are currently on track to meet, is to have The Magazine 2023 out by the end of this year.
