Tennis

Welcome back to another season of igsa Tennis. This term Pymble has entered 30 teams from Year 7 to Year 12. Tennis has been an especially popular choice amongst our Year 7 students with 11 teams coming from that cohort alone. Whilst wet weather cancelled or put an early end to most matches on Saturday 10 February, our teams are well prepared for their matches. Attendance and effort at training has been very encouraging, and our coaches have admired the courage of our new players giving tennis a go for the first time. Wishing all teams the best of luck for the season ahead!

Goolagong National Development Camp

Two of our First Nations students, Giselle Kawane (Year 12) and Sophia Kawane (Year 9), were thrilled to share their holiday experience as participants in the 2024 Goolagong National Development Camp by the Evonne Goolagong Foundation alongside 27 other Indigenous tennis players from across Australia.

During the week long camp at Monash University in Melbourne, Giselle and Sophia underwent intensive training and had inspiring encounters with First Nations sporting legends like Evonne Goolagong Cawley, Ash Barty and Cathy Freeman. Highlights included training at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club, attending ‘First Nations Day’ at the 2024 Australian Open (AO), catching up with Pymble ex-students Mikayla Zahirovic, Tiarna Williams and Ruby Pade and being chosen for AO and Tennis Australia media interviews.

Thank you to the Evonne Goolagong Foundation for providing such an incredible opportunity!
