2023-2024 NSW Senior State Age Championships: 10 to 16 December, 2023
Congratulations to Pymble Ladies’ College for a remarkable performance at the 2023-2024 NSW Senior State Age Championships held from Sunday 10 December to Saturday 16 December 2023. With 21 Pymble swimmers, including four alumni, representing Knox Pymble Swim Club, the team demonstrated exceptional resilience and commitment throughout the gruelling seven days of heats and finals.
Facing days of 12 to 14 hours, our swimmers raced in heats, swimming down, grabbing a quick nap and lunch, and delivering outstanding performances in the finals—some nights finishing as late as 9.00pm after starting at 7.30am. The team’s dedication and attitude towards each other were commendable.
The highlight of the week was the 10×50 Freestyle relay on the final night, creating an electric atmosphere where our Pymble swimmers swam their fastest times of the meet. Coaches Raf and Michelle were so proud of our team and being part of such an amazing week.
Megan Chia (Year 8) showcased exceptional talent in ten events achieving ten personal best times, seven top ten swims, and seven medals (two Gold, three Silver, and two Bronze). Megan’s positive attitude and continuous improvement throughout the week earned her the second-highest points in the female division, totalling 238.
Bella Zhang (Pymble Alumni and 2023 Swim Captain) raced in eight events achieving either top ten swims, and eight medals (one Gold, four Silver, and three Bronze). As the highest female point scorer with 242 points, Bella’s experience, leadership, and team spirit shone brightly, making her a fantastic role model for the younger swimmers.
Congratulations to all swimmers, coaches and families involved for a memorable and successful championship!
