Sailing Season 2024/2025
What a season it has been out on the water for our Pymble sailors! From the very first lesson in Term 4 last year to breathtaking finishes this term, our Sailing program continues to capture the spirit of adventure, learning, and teamwork.
Our journey began in Term 4 2024 as our Learn to Sail and Senior Sailing programs took to the boats every Thursday and Saturday morning. From Year 5 through to Year 12, the dedication of our sailors was on full display as they mastered everything from the basics of handling a boat and understanding the breeze, to the finer points of team tactics and advanced racing skills. It’s been wonderful to see confidence grow and friendships flourish with every week on the water.
This year, our sailors were honoured to receive an invitation to the NSW Summer Series Sailing Competition at Woollahra Sailing Club. While the first day put everyone’s patience to the test with no wind and abandoned races, Day 2 came alive with fantastic sailing and determination. Our students seized the opportunity to challenge themselves against some of the best!
The energy and excitement rolled right into the NSW State Championships, held at Georges River from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 May. Despite a soggy start on Friday, the sun eventually broke through and delivered ideal sailing conditions for a weekend of fantastic competition. Watching our sailors improve over the course of the event was an absolute delight, and the pride was palpable as our team finished an incredibly impressive fourth among all girls’ schools!
Congratulations to our talented sailors for representing Pymble with tenacity and grace at both the Summer Series and State Championships:
- Simone Bennet (Year 11)
- Layne Phillips (Year 11)
- Daisy Stoodley-Williamson (Year 11)
- Jenny Ling (Year 10)
- Emma Ouyang (Year 8)
- Ruby Stoodley-Williamson (Year 8)
- Meii You (Year 8)
A huge thank you to every participant who brought enthusiasm and positive energy to the program week after week – you are what makes Pymble Sailing so special. It has truly been a terrific season of growth, fun, and friendship. We can’t wait to see familiar and new faces alike when we set sail again in Term 4!
