Rugby Sevens
Our Pymble Rugby students took on Gordon Rugby club, in very wet conditions, for the First Nations Round or Sport held at Pymble. Despite the wet football and slippery ground, Team Pymble put together some fantastic Rugby!
Due to the opposition’s lack of numbers, some of Pymble’s Junior Rugby players put their hand up to play. Thank you to those players for being so co-operative. Notable mentions to:
- Milly Farr (Year 7), Ruby Azar (Year 7), Eloise Lawry (Year 7) and Jade George (Year 7) who were strong in attack for the opposition.
- Narla Bron (Year 7), Emily Finucane (Year 8), Poppy Fox-Ashwin (Year 8) and Daysie Leahy (Year 8), damaging in defence and allowing the team’s speed to flourish out wide.
- A huge shout out to Madison Aikman (Year 7) who played her first match of Rugby 7s!

The Intermediate match provided some entertaining tries from both teams. Special mentions to:
- Alessia Calvani (Year 9) making some bone rattling tackles and strong in the breakdown.
- Rose Kirkby (Year 10) and Lily Mancey (Year 9) who were lethal out wide with some great attacking plays.
- Scarlett Mitchell (Year 9) and Olianna Tighe (Year 10) were immovable at the breakdown securing possession for the backs;
- Mie Naito (Year 9), Evie Farr (Year 9), Claudia Hodder (Year 10), Ellie Pointon (Year 10) and Elke Payne (Year 10) gaining possession and working their magic.
- Annie Pennington (Year 9) and Imarni Woodroffe-Mulholland (Year 9) were damaging with the ball in hand with some courageous carries through the middle.
This match was cut short due to an unfortunate injury from the opposition, however a convincing win for the team – well done to all players!

The final match of the day was our mighty Senior team. A huge shout out to Dezi Magann-Jones (Year 11) who offered to play the whole match for the opposition due to injuries. It is not easy to play against your teammates and Dezi did so with a smile on her face! A dominant display from these girls against a physical pack from Gordon. A whole team performance with special mentions to:
- Buffy Hutton (Year 12), Latiah McMillan (Year 11), Hannah Weber (Year 11) and Aspen Moore (Year 12) producing strong carries busting through the opposition defence.
- Maya Atkinson (Year 11), Evie Leahy (Year 11), Sophie Livingstone (Year 12) and Mika Naito (Year 11) made the most of the front foot ball and executed in attack.
Three wins from three games on the day and we could not be prouder of our Pymble Rugby players and the manner in which they carried themselves on and off the field.
Well done!
