FTC Sydney North Qualifier at Pymble Ladies’ College

On the weekend, Pymble hosted the Sydney North FIRST Tech Challenge Qualifier, and we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Pymble staff who helped make this event possible. A special shout-out to Libby and Camila for coordinating the event in communication with the FIRST, and to Nuno for his incredible IT support. We truly couldn’t have done it without you.

We also want to acknowledge the amazing dedication of the FIRST community. It was inspiring to see so many volunteers supporting students, and teams throughout the day.

With six Pymble teams competing amongst 28 teams, our students showcased remarkable teamwork, creativity, resilience, and technical expertise, with Pymble teams placing first, second, and third.

Our Year 7 team, RICE, delivered one of the strongest rookie performances in NSW. They ranked first overall, became Alliance Captains once again, remained undefeated across all matches, and won the entire event as the lead alliance. Their success is even more extraordinary given that this is their first-ever FTC season, competing against teams from Years 7 to 12.

Team Pymble Bees also had an exceptional performance, shooting reliably from almost anywhere on the field, running consistent autonomous routines, and completing some of the fastest scoring cycles of the weekend. They won the Control Award for outstanding robot programming, finished as one of the top teams at the event, and won the entire competition alongside RICE as part of the champion alliance.

We also celebrate our award-winning teams:

  • Shark Sub – Design Award for excellence and innovation in engineering design.
  • DA RAM – Think Award second place for strong engineering documentation and strategic robot development.
  • Pymbotics – Reached the semi-finals and created Pymble’s first-ever FTC scouting app, developed by Erica Kwok (Year 9), which was used by our teams throughout the event.
  • Pymble Lion Cubs – Event finalists, finishing as one of the top alliances of the day.

In total, five Pymble teams have now qualified for the National Championship, an outstanding achievement that reflects the strength, depth, and dedication within our Robotics program.

This has been an exceptional season for Pymble Robotics. Every team represented the College with pride, determination, and integrity. Congratulations to all our students—you’ve made Pymble incredibly proud.
