Music
Congratulations
The Brass Ensemble, the Andarta Trio and the Ivory Quartet all performed in the Chamber Music section of the City of Sydney Eisteddfod on Sunday 25 May. It was a long day with 30 competitors, and I was immensely proud of our students. Ivory Quartet received a Highly Commended, which is a testament to the level of competition out there. The winners were a young quartet who performed with maturity way beyond their years and displayed a beautiful sense of musicality and technique. We often remind the girls that the purpose of going to the eisteddfod isn’t about the competition, but to be exposed to other schools and groups who also enjoy being musicians. It is important for us to realise this and to teach the girls that winning is obviously wonderful, but being part of an ensemble, having like-minded peers, and being part of a very special group of people is even more meaningful.
The Pymble Chorale has entered the eisteddfod through video submission. Unfortunately, there was a double booking for the Concourse this year and the choirs have all been asked to submit a video. We look forward to hearing the comments made, but Mr Schweinberger and I were so proud of their performance in front of parents on Monday night – BRAVO!
