Language Arts

Thank you to all the Language Arts family for another successful year in Language Arts. Thank you to Sophia Fang, Amy Hoang and Sam Yee who were the key players in our Language Arts parent support team. Your help has been invaluable. Thank you to all our support parents and to our wonderful captains, both incoming and outgoing and our team of coaches. Thanks to Co-curricular Administration for all their support and finally, thank you to our wonderful students. 2023 has been another great year. I hope you all have a safe and restful break. Good luck to those who are still competing in the holidays! 

International Debating Championship Winners! (IDC) 

We won the Junior Grand Final of IDC! Congratulations Averie Sun, Jemma Hung, Nicole Zhang and Sophie Guo. Not only were they winners, they were undefeated all season! 

ZONTA 

The goal of the Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award Program is to encourage young women to participate in public affairs by recognising the candidate’s commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to building a better world for women and girls through service and advocacy. This competition will be open to girls aged 16 to 19 years on 1 April in 2024. 

Girls who demonstrate evidence of the following, are eligible to apply. 

  • Active commitment to volunteerism. 
  • Experience in local government, student government, or workplace leadership (paid or unpaid). 
  • Volunteer leadership achievements. 
  • Knowledge of Zonta International and its programs. 
  • Support for Zonta International’s mission of building a better world for women and girls.

Model United Nations (MUN) 

Please note that a Conference is being planned for early February. MUN students will be emailed in the holidays. Pymble Model UN will continue to run in DK05 and DK06 every Monday lunch time – all welcome!  

Pymble MUN Tour 

We are planning a January 2025 Language Arts tour to London, Bruges, Amsterdam and The Hague. We plan to attend THIMUN at The Hague. Details can still be obtained from Travel@Pymblelc.nsw.edu.au

UN Voice of Youth Public Speaking – Four State finalists! 

Congratulations to Katherine Pan, Isis Lee, Nikita Serban and Catherine Shi, who were all selected to progress to the finals of this competition, to be held at NSW Parliament House on 15 December. 

Public Speaking Auditions 

These will be held on Wednesday 21 February 2024 after school. Please see the Rostrum Voice of Youth NSW website for topics and timings. 

Secondary School Debating Auditions 

Debating auditions concluded this week and teams will be released during the break. The ISDA season will commence on Friday 16 February and FED will commence on the 23 February. Draws will be sent once registration has been completed. 

Junior School Debating Auditions 

Please see Ms Itzcovitz in Junior School regarding any issues relating to Debating in Year 6 for 2024.
