Finals Week

What an exhilarating two days of hockey it was over the weekend! On Friday 19 and Saturday 20 September, our Pymble teams took to the field for the semi-finals and grand finals, displaying exceptional determination, skill, and sportsmanship capping off what can only be described as a truly memorable season.

Friday evening saw Pymble 1 face a tough challenge against Ascham in the semi-final. The match was fiercely contested, with both teams fighting for a place in the grand final. The first half was tight, but it was in the second half where Pymble 1 really showed their grit and resilience. With unwavering focus and teamwork, the girls surged ahead, securing a hard-fought victory and booking their place in the championship match.

Pymble 3 faced PLC Armidale in what turned out to be another absorbing semi-final. The girls played with immense commitment and heart, holding strong throughout the contest. Despite a valiant effort and battling until the very end, they were unfortunate to just miss out. Nonetheless, the entire team should be incredibly proud of their spirit and the pride they brought to their squad.

Saturday was a celebration of all that is great about Pymble hockey, with both Pymble 1 and Pymble 2 taking to the turf for the grand finals.

In a nail-biting match against MLC 1, Pymble 2 displayed tremendous tenacity. With neither side able to break the deadlock in regular time, the game went into extra time, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats. It was Pymble who found the breakthrough, scoring a fantastic goal to clinch a well-deserved 1 to 0 victory and crown themselves grand final champions!

For Pymble 1, the grand final was much more than just a match it was redemption. After a heartbreaking semi-final defeat to NEGS last year, the girls returned to the pitch determined to seize their moment. With courage, composure and outstanding hockey, they produced a stellar performance, winning the S01 trophy with an impressive 2 to 0 result. A fairy tale ending for a remarkable group.

To our wonderful Year 12s, congratulations on a magnificent term of hockey and thank you for your ongoing commitment, leadership, and passion. You have been exemplary both on and off the pitch and will be missed deeply by your teammates and coaches alike.

A heartfelt thank you to all the parents for your steadfast support and enthusiasm throughout the season. To our fantastic coaches, your dedication and willingness to go above and beyond made all the difference.

As we reflect on this wonderful season, we are already looking forward to what 2026 will bring. Here’s to even more memorable moments and continued success for Pymble Hockey!
