From the Middle School

From the Middle School

Last Friday the Middle School welcomed a number of very special visitors to Pymble, hosting Links Day for our incoming Year 7 2024 cohort. The day was a hive of activity with Middle School Student Leaders and Year 7 Transition Leaders working hard welcoming students, facilitating ice breaker activities, taking students on a scavenger hunt tour of the Campus, supporting them navigate their way to sample lessons and to the Have A Go Expo which showcased co-curricular and sport offerings for 2024. We would like to take a moment to congratulate and thank our Middle School Student Leaders and our Year 7 Transition Leaders for their enthusiasm and the care they took with Year 6 students on the day.

Our Year 12 2024 House Leaders and their friendly mascots also deserve a thank you for their careful planning and encouragement of Year 6 on the day. Year 12 House Leaders ran a series of House Spirit activities to welcome Year 6 into their House groups. Needless to say, our Year 6 visitors had a thoroughly enjoyable day experiencing life on campus and building connections within our Middle School family. We all look forward to welcoming them next year during the Orientation program.

Tuesday saw the 40th anniversary of Jacaranda Day where the College community gathers below our beautiful and full blooming jacaranda tree to give thanks and pledge support and service to our College and community charity organisations. Sienna Melton (Year 8) gave the Acknowledgement of Country with Jessica Persson (Year 7) and Grace McSweeney (Year 8) reading prayers to mark the occasion. It was wonderful to hear the Middle School Service initiatives shared with the wider Pymble community and acknowledge the commitment of our Year 7 and Year 8 students across the year.

Jacaranda Day also marks a time in our calendar when as a college we work to collect donations for The Bill Crews Foundation. Sweet and savoury perishable items, as well as games and toys can be donated to the Middle School Office for the foundation to use over the Christmas and holiday period. Your donations are always warmly received.

Year 7 Christmas Chapel Service

On Wednesday afternoon, Year 7 held their Christmas service, celebrating the year as well as taking time to reflect on their growth and change throughout the year. Congratulations and thank you to Ms Theresa Mimmo and Mr Andrew Heggie, Head of Year 7, who worked tirelessly with student volunteers to craft decorations, plan and practice music, recite readings and create gifts for teachers. It was an incredibly special celebration and showcased the many talents of Year 7 including students reading, singing, playing the piano, the flute and strings. Thank you to parents, carers and extended family who attended on the day to celebrate with Year 7.

Year 7 Art

Year 7 Visual Arts are busy at the moment drawing and clay making imaginative creatures and animals as part of their ‘insert unit title’. We could not resist showcasing a number of our students’ creations and know that you will agree how ingenious and original their works of art are.

Dance Showcase

The Pymble Dance Showcase took place last Thursday to Sunday, showcasing the talent of our Year 7 and 8 dance students. We would like to congratulate the following students for their participation in what was truly a breathtaking display of talent and hard work.
