From the Middle School

As Term 3 draws to a close I would like to acknowledge all the dynamic learning that has taken place across Years 7 and 8. Your daughters have stepped up to challenges and embraced opportunities across a broad range of subjects to grow their knowledge and develop their skill set. Thank you to our Academic and Compass teachers, to our Heads of Year, our Deputy Head of Middle School and the Middle School administration staff for your continued investment in the girls.

Last week’s Year 8 Outdoor Education program was a standout experience that showcased student resilience and determination. We were blessed with beautiful weather and a team of Pymble teachers who gave their all to ensure best outcomes- thank you to each of you. Congratulations to our camp award recipients:

On Wednesday we celebrated our final Middle School Assembly in the gym. This occasion allowed us to acknowledge a large number of girls for their efforts and commitment to Pymble. I would have liked to have included more individuals because so many of our girls have demonstrated standout  behaviour across the term. Congratulations to each and every one of your daughters for their contribution to Middle School.

All the best to Sorina Cepraga (7 Thomas A) as she heads off on five weeks of long service leave and welcome to Phoebe Gooley who will be stepping in as Compass teacher.

Well done to our Jacaranda Award recipients for Term 3.  The girls continue to embody the College values and display kindness to their peers.

I’m also delighted to let you know that Zoe Bloom’s Manly Warringah softball team after 4 games on Saturday and 5 on Sunday, won the 2023 Girls’ NSW State Championship. Congratulations!

Robotics

We had two competitions over the past two days for our Year 5 to Year 8’s in the VEX IQ and VEX Robotics competition. Under the new system this year that has come about due to the many new schools and teams competing, we now have to qualify for State Championships, before Nationals, and there are fewer positions. Our teams rose to the new challenge and two teams, one from Year 6 and one from Year 7 have qualified. The team from year 7 ranked first at the end of the qualification round and won the Excellence Award, the highest award.

Garden Party Years 7 and 8 Sweet Sensations Stall

Shiva, Carol, Tash and I truly appreciate all the wonderful support you provided that ensured Saturday’s Sweet Sensations Stall was another great success! It was wonderful meeting and working with you all.

We would like to express our sincerest thanks to all families that contributed so generously towards purchasing the lollies – without your support we could not have run this stall so well.

A huge thank you also to the parents who helped at the working bee last Thursday to create the wonderful lolly bags.

Year 7 and 8 Parent Volunteers at this year’s Garden Party

We also wish to acknowledge and thank all the amazing Year 7 and 8 parents who either convened or volunteered at numerous other stalls to make the Garden Party the absolute success that it was! These stalls include the Cake, the Korean Food, the Sri Lankan Food stall, the Dumpling, the Ping Pong Bounce, The Foundation Ball and the Performing Arts stalls.  Your help was very much appreciated, and, because of your support, we had a hugely successful day.
