From the Boarding School

Welcome back!

It has been a great week settling in girls, meeting with families and generally catching up on the last few months. We were delighted to welcome our 29 new Boarders and their families to Pymble on Sunday, followed by our returning girls on Monday. There was much to talk about with the Avonmoore ready for occupancy and the move to our new House structure. We are beyond excited about the year to come.

Boarders’ Parent Group

On Monday afternoon our Boarders’ Parent Group met and it was great to see a good turnout of parents and to hear the College updates from Dr Hadwen and our Deputy Principal, Lamia Rockwell. I was excited to share news of my visit to the United States of American and Canada and look forward to implementing my learnings. The minutes will be available in the coming week. Jackie Garment also shared news of our planned country visits. Please click here to view our planned itinerary and please let us know if you have any suggestions for catch ups.

Community Weekend

We are all looking forward to the coming Community Weekend, which sees us exploring Sydney sites and transport networks on Saturday and heading out to Raging Waters on Sunday. I look forward to sharing happy snaps next week.

On the following weekends there will be multiple and varied opportunities for the girls to make the most of our Sydney location and through our Love It program. Please click here to view our Love It program.

Our Sporting Superstars

Our Boarders have had a busy holiday and it is great to see them continue to shine in an array of sports.

Congratulations to Alethea (Lethy) Leahy who represented NSW Regional Select in the Kuala Lumpur Cup at the end of 2023. There were extremely tough playing conditions but Lethy had a strong tournament with the team going through undefeated and winning the tournament.

Lethy and her sister Allayna (Ally) both represented NSW Country at Futsal Nationals in Queensland with Lethy captaining the side. The girls had solid wins against Queensland and Western Australia narrowly missing out on the semis.

Further congratulations to Ally who trialled for Greater Western Sydney and has been selected for into the 16s squad for 2024.

I am delighted to share that Abigail Ballhausen (Year 12 2023) was awarded the Young Sportswomen of Year for Narromine and Hannah Weber (Year 11 2024) was the Walgett recipient. It’s so good to see our Boarders  being recognised in their local community.

Here’s to a great year!

Thank you for letting us have a little loan of your girls during term time and for sending them back so well prepared and brimming with enthusiasm.  Every good wish for the year to come, it’s going to be a good one!
