Australian Dance Festival
On Friday and Sunday our Secondary Eisteddfod Dance Students participated in the Australian Dance Festival (ADF).
ADF is a celebration of Australia’s best in dance, with a sensational fusion of workshops, industry talks and performances.
ADF was a whirlwind of excitement, talent, and unforgettable moments for our dance students. On Friday and Sunday, our dancers showcased their dedication, passion and courage. Here is a glimpse into the incredible journey our performers embarked on.

Friday 15 September
On Friday, our Contemporary White and Jazz White teams embarked on an intensive day of workshops, immersing themselves in the world of dance and learning from some of Australia’s leading choreographers. It was a day of growth and refining their skills.
In the evening, these teams took to the ADF stage to represent our college with pride.
Our contemporary White team competed in the ‘Resonate’ competition, where they wowed the audience with their mesmerising performance centred around the theme of Ukraine. Their emotionally charged routine left spectators speechless, and goosebumps rippled through the crowd. As a result, Contemporary White took home the coveted title of ‘Overall Best Performance.’ A huge congratulations to their teacher and choreographer Miss Shelley Moore.
Jazz White also showcased their exceptional talent for a school level in the ‘Australia’s Best Dance Crew’ competition. Competing against some of Australia’s best full-time dance schools and studios, they delivered a remarkable performance that earned them well-deserved praise. Although the group did not make it through to the Finals they walked away with much kudos and a sense of achievement to be competing at this standard.

Sunday 17 September
Sunday was a day for all Secondary Eisteddfod students to participate in workshops led by industry-leading guest teachers. These workshops provided our students with invaluable insights and inspiration, fuelling their passion for dance.
Throughout the weekend, our dancers were challenged to explore a wide variety of dance styles and genres, pushing their boundaries and expanding their horizons. The students had the surreal opportunity to dance alongside incredible people and learn from teachers who are truly the best in the dance world.
This unique experience not only enriched their skills but also broadened their horizons, offering them a glimpse into the limitless possibilities of dance.
After a day of workshops, our students had the privilege of watching the dance show featuring some of Australia’s finest dancers. The electrifying performances left our students enthralled and bursting with inspiration. Witnessing the best in the business is an experience that will undoubtedly shape their artistic journeys in the years to come.
ADF was not just about competition and performance; it was a celebration of the art of dance, a platform for growth, and a source of endless inspiration. Our College’s dancers exhibited incredible talent, passion and dedication, and their achievements at ADF will serve as a source of pride for our entire community. The College was also highlighted through a new Watch Us Change the World campaign advertisement that aired on repeat at all evening shows.
This was a sensational end to the 2023 Eisteddfod Season and we will be back to ADF in 2024.
