Pymble shines at the 2025 Humpty Balmoral Burn
What a spectacular morning at the Balmoral Burn, a unique and challenging event that raises vital funds for life-saving medical equipment for sick babies and children in hospitals across Australia. This year, 100 Pymble girls from Kindergarten to Year 12, along with several enthusiastic staff members, took part, demonstrating not only physical grit but also a deep commitment to community spirit.
A highlight of the morning was the prestigious Head of the Hill relay, where Pymble dominated the competition by claiming first and second – the first time ever to take the top two spots, successfully defending our title. Congratulations to the girls in both teams: Sophia Slater (Year 12), Gemma Dixon (Year 9), Aniela Knight (Year 10), and Rachel Schwulst in the A team; Isobel Shorter (Year 10), Leander McLaughlin (Year 10), Phoebe Pockley (Year 10), and Tully Black (Year 12) in the B team.
The Kindergarten to Year 2 race was an absolute delight, with 15 of our youngest runners showing incredible determination to complete the tough hill. A huge congratulations to Hannah Xiao (Year 2) who placed second and Jade Wang (Year 1) who came third – a fantastic achievement.
Our primary girls were outstanding, tackling the course with huge smiles and unwavering determination. Their enthusiasm and perseverance truly captured the essence of Pymble spirit.
Adding to the joy of the day was the secondary Just for Fun race, where girls could dress up and walk or run up the 420m hill with friends, and new in this year, staff could participate alongside them. This was certainly a fun race to be part of and added to the spirit and sense of community that defines Pymble.
Beyond the race itself, the Pymble community raised over $16,000 for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation. This event is not just about running up a 420m hill – it was about a community coming together to make a difference. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who took part and supported this wonderful cause.
