Athletics and Cross Country
CIS Cross Country Championships were held at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.
Despite the tough and muddy conditions, all Pymble students raced exceptionally well and achieved excellent results. The following students qualified for the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships, which will be held in July:
Gemma Dixon (Year 8) 4th in 13 years
Eliza Lawton (Year 8) 1st in 14 years
Sophia Slater (Year 11) 11th in 17 years
Georgia Phillips (Year 12) 3rd in 18 years
In addition to these excellent individual results, two teams achieved Gold. Congratulations to Pymble’s 13 years team: Gemma Dixon (Year 8), Quinn Parry-Okeden (Year 7) and Georgina Lewis (Year 7).
Athletics NSW State Cross Country Championships were held at the renowned Willandra course in Nowra. This is without a doubt one of the toughest and most spectacular courses in Australia. Several students competed securing excellent results.
Eliza Lawton (Year 8) – 1st under 15, 4km (fastest 4km of the day)
Gemma Dixon (Year 8) – 3rd under 14, 3km
Georgia Phillips (Year 12) – 3rd under 20, 6km
Sarah Baker (Year 12) – 8th – under 18, 4km
Sophia Slater (Year 11), Lily Jones (Year 11), Grace Beck (Year 10) qualified for Athletics Australia National Cross Country Championships to be held in Tasmania on the Saturday 31 August.
