Music
Success at Garden Party
Thank you to all the wonderful musicians who performed at Garden Party on Saturday. The heat was quite excruciating for the band students, performing directly into the sun. However, their music was outstanding. The jazz bands provided some toe tapping fun for our audience, and we had a fitting farewell for our Year 12 students. Our gorgeous Pizzicatos and Piccolines performed to a very appreciative audience in the Chapel, and our flute and clarinet ensembles provided a lovely background to the people having Devonshire Tea.
Music Elective Night
Congratulations to all the students who performed at the Elective Music Night on Tuesday night. This evening is a culmination of a year’s worth of performing for all students taking Elective music from Year 8 to 11. Thank you to the parents and friends who were in attendance and to Mr Rossman for setting up a world-class arrangement for the students to work with.
Music Support Group Meeting – 6.00pm, Wednesday 18 October, Music Gallery
All parents from Junior School to Senior School are welcome to attend this meeting and offer your help, in whatever format you are comfortable with.
Term 4 Rehearsals
Please note that Term 4 rehearsals do begin on Day One of school. We have much to do in Term 4, so attendance is compulsory and if you are unable to attend, permission must be sought from the conductor prior to rehearsal. Illness is to be communicated directly to your conductor and it will be assumed that you are too ill to attend school for the whole day.
Congratulations
Aine Oo in Year 10 has been selected as one of the ten finalists in the Sydney Eisteddfod’s 2023 Alf and Pearl Pollard Memorial Instrumental Awards for Performance Excellence (13 to 15 years).
This event will be hosted by the Lane Cove Music Society and will be held on Tuesday 10October 2023 at 7.30pm at the Lane Cove Mowbray Anglican Church (19 Rosenthal Avenue, Lane Cove).
The champion is awarded based on an audience vote so if you are free to attend, I am sure Aine would appreciate your vote.
Year 12 2023
To our dear students of Year 12 Music,
It is with great pride and joy, and yes, some sadness, that we bid you farewell and good luck in the next phase of your lives. You carry with you some happy memories of music at Pymble and hopefully a song in your heart. You will always be in our hearts, and we will remember you fondly – from Found Tonight to Honk; from Fame to Mamma Mia, and everything in between. In the words of A.A Milne, remember us:
“I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart for so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams, we can be together all the time.”
― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
