Launch of TESLA Work Experience Program
It is with great excitement we announce the launch of our pilot work experience program with Women in TESLA.
Last three students from Year 10 participated in a week long program, exploring areas of support, service, sustainability and marketing.
Read more about the students’ perspectives of the program below:
“I had the amazing opportunity to spend five days at Tesla, where I gained a well-rounded understanding of various work environments across industries, including manufacturing, customer service, marketing, and innovation. Tesla, a prominent electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, impressed upon me the significance of its mission-driven culture as a key factor in its success. Throughout the week, I engaged with employees who provided introductory presentations about their roles within the company. I shadowed and actively contributed to the daily tasks of some employees, including delving into vehicle administration processes for road legality and discussing infrastructure projects related to EV chargers with energy engineers. One particularly enjoyable task was creating a content calendar for Tesla’s Twitter marketing. This involved conducting background research on social activity within Tesla’s target market and using these insights to develop a posting schedule for October.
This experience not only deepened my understanding of the automotive industry but also broadened my perspective on the vast array of opportunities within a company like Tesla. It made me realise that the traditional career paths we often hear about, such as doctor, lawyer, accountant, or engineer, represent only a fraction of the ever-expanding opportunities available in the world. Tesla’s overarching mission to ‘accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy’ resonated strongly with everyone we met, and this commitment to a shared goal left a lasting impression on me. It reinforced the importance of consistently working toward a larger purpose, contributing significantly to my personal growth. As a result, I am now motivated to explore career opportunities that align with Tesla’s dedication to innovation and environmental sustainability.”

“Recently, I had the unique opportunity to participate in the Women in Tesla work experience program. We were the first group to take part in this event, where we had the chance to meet and engage with professionals from every department within the company. We worked Monday to Friday, spending our first day in Chatswood’s dealership, followed by Alexandria’s service workshop, and spending our final days in HQ North Sydney. It was an incredible experience as we lived through the high-paced working environment in both the Motor and Energy sectors.
Throughout the program, we met a range of incredible individuals who shared their knowledge with us, learning the ins and outs of a company as big as Tesla and what practices make them successful. Overall, the experience has left me with a new understanding and set of skills for both electrical vehicles themselves, sales, marketing, energy, and STEM career pathways. 10/10 experience, would recommend.”
