Team of the Week

This week’s team of the week goes to our Junior Firsts, Pymble 7!

Our Junior Firsts had a top of the table clash against Wenona on Saturday. The team took 3 goals to 0 half-time lead, and the result stayed the same in the second half. Some great build-up play and possession-based football meant that our goalkeeper, Amelia Brandon (Year 9), was never really tested. An early goal of the season contender from Amelia Bicego (Year 8), saw her beat two defenders and then cut inside to score a 20-yard curling screamer!

Well done girls!

Senior Firsts Match Report by Football Captain, Kaitlyn Chan

Our Senior Firsts notched their second win of the season on Saturday. A strong performance saw them score 7 goals past Queenwood, which now sets up a top of the table clash in their next game against Roseville College. Here’s what football captain, Kaitlyn Chan (Year 12), had to say: “Stellar win for the Pymble Senior Firsts team with a 7-0 win against Queenwood. Congrats to our goal scorers: Grace Townsend (Year 10) and Sophie Watson (Year 12) with two each, Jasmin Robinson (Year 11), Willa Pearson (Year 7), and Kaitlyn Chan (Year 12).

Special mention to Madison Gabila (Year 7) and Willa Pearson (Year 7) from the Junior Firsts for helping us out and Chloe Tseros (Year 11) for keeping a clean sheet.”

School Pathway

Congratulations to the following students who made the IGSA Opens Football team following the trials on Monday 8 May: Willa Pearson (Year 7), Chloe Tseros (Year 11), Juliette Harris (Year 11) and Kaitlyn Chan (Year 12). Also, congratulations to our Head Coach, Shervin Adeli, for being selected as the assistant coach.

The IGSA Football team will take part in the CIS Football Championships on Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 May, at Valentine Sports Park, where they will compete against CGSSA, AICES, ISA, and NCIS.

CIS Football Cup

Our CIS Football Cup team played against Barker College last Thursday 4 May on Main Oval. Barker started the game strongly, moving the ball around their backline but were struggling to penetrate our defensive lines.

Pymble were able to press and win the ball in dangerous areas, which led to three goals in the first half. The goal scorers were Grace Townsend (Year 10), Willa Pearson (Year 7), and Sophie Watson (Year 12).

A lot of credit goes to our backline, who were able to restrict Barker to long range shots, which led to a clean sheet for our goalkeeper, Chloe Tseros (Year 11).

Our team will next face the winner of Loreto Normanhurst vs Hunter Valley Grammar School.
