Music
During rehearsals this week, I asked students who had completed one of their exams to stand up. I told them how proud I was of them for working towards a goal, and going into their exam prepared for whatever result may occur. On Friday 31 May, three AMEB examiners attended the College to mark many of our students. All three examiners commented how much they love coming to Pymble to see the talent, to hear our Pymble musicians play, and most importantly, commented on their attitude and how polite they are. Well done to all students. The results do not matter – your preparation matters. This reminds me of Angela Duckworth and her work on “grit”. She says “as much as talent counts, effort counts twice.”
Week 6 and 7 are filled with Eisteddfods and, although it’s always great to win, we know that Pymble musicians and performers win just by showing up. The following groups will participate in the City of Sydney Eisteddfod:
- Hindson Chamber Strings
- Senior Chamber Stringsw
- Capella Choir
- Pymble Chorale
- Andarta Trio
- Aurora Trio
- Meleota Trio
We wish all performers the very best of luck. Having a go, getting nervous, working as a team, and showcasing your best selves is winning in our books!
Congratulations
Congratulations to Candice Li (Year 5) on her achievement of a High Distinction A+ in Grade 2 Musicianship.
