Drama
Last Wednesday 8 May, Year 10 and 11 Drama students visited the Opera House to see Sydney Theatre company’s production of No Pay, No Way – a contemporary revival of the Dario Fo classic.
Winner of the 1977 Nobel Prize in Literature, Dario Fo wrote more than 80 plays in his lifetime and is remembered as a master of political satire, using comedy and farce to advance social justice. Fifty years after the original production in Italy, this play has lost none of its relevance and as Year 10 embark on their Political Theatre unit next term they come equipped with a stronger appreciation of social parody, physical comedy, and irony.
It was wonderful to witness our Drama students enjoying live theatre at one of Sydney’s most iconic art venues.

Congratulations to our Intermediate and Senior Theatresports teams on their outstanding performance in the first round of the NSW Theatresports Competition. Despite fierce competition, both teams have secured spots in the Semi-finals! The Intermediate team will compete at Tara on Thursday 16 May and the Senior team will compete at Lindfield Learning Village on Monday 20 May.
The Intermediate team, Grace McSweeney (Year 9), Jessica Allman (Year 9), Catherine Zeng (Year 9) and Sitian Chen (Year 9), started off steadily, soaring to third place by the end of the night. Their heartfelt journey through memory lane earned them the highest score of the evening, solidifying their spot in the competition.

Consistency was key for the Senior team. Murphy Scott (Year 12), Finley Saghaie (Year 12) and Chloe Brown (Year 10) showcased remarkable improvisation skills in every scene. Their exceptional performance in round 4 earned them a perfect score.

As we celebrate this remarkable achievement, we also send our best wishes to both teams as they gear up for the next round of competitions. Congratulations once again on this fantastic result, and we wish you all the best for the Semi-finals!
