Meet Pymble’s bus drivers

Every week we will feature a profile on one of our wonderful Pymble bus drivers. This week, we learn more about Paul on Bus 1 and what makes him tick!

Please tell us your name and a little bit about yourself.

Paul McCurley. I am relatively new to driving buses but am enjoying the challenges and rewards of working out of my mobile office. My spare time is spent working and driving on my vintage cars and spending time with family and friends.

If any, what careers did you have before becoming a bus driver?

I have spent most of my working life in the automotive industry. A car guy at heart but have quickly come to respect and enjoy driving coaches at CDC Charter.

Which Pymble bus do you drive and how long have you been a Pymble driver?

PLC1 – Hunters Hill. This is my first time driving full time for Pymble Ladies’ College, however I filled in for other drivers and driven a number of Pymble Charters.

You spend a great deal of your time on the road and have no doubt seen it all. What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to Sydney drivers?

Impatient drivers who like to push in front of buses.

What is your favourite part of working at Pymble?

I am looking forward to the new year, working with the Pymble team and getting to know the staff and students.

Where is the best excursion/charter location you have driven to for Pymble? If new to Pymble, what other locations have you enjoyed driving to?

I enjoy camp charters as the students are always excited to go. You can always tell they have had a great time because they are exhausted on the way home. Taking students into venues in the city can be challenging but always nice to see our beautiful city.

What was your favourite subject at school?

History was the most interesting.

We hope you had a good Christmas break, and maybe managed to get away for a bit. What is your favourite holiday destination and why?

I am looking forward to spending my daughters 21st birthday in Disneyland this year. I am excited for the Star Wars rides in Galaxy’s Edge. You’re never too old for a giant roller coaster!
