Olive, lime, ivy, sage, mint, pine, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
These hues shade my vision <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In blurs shaped like clouds <\/p>\n\n\n\n
These leaves <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On their stems and branches supporting <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The richest form of twisting, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spiralling, spiking <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Loving, dying <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
First they rise from their tiny roots <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From a seed, from the embryo of creation; <\/p>\n\n\n\n
First they struggle, a weak little thing <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then they grow <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And they strengthen <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Strengthening and strengthening <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Growing and growing <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And their long limbs tumble out from their bodies <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And reach for the sky and the ground and out into open air <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And they breathe and live; <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oh, how they live! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this way, these magnificent beings <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of browns and flowers and blues and greens <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They hold in their branches the things we hold dear, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And all of the bugs and all of the elephants <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the giraffes and lions and everything in between. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
So isn\u2019t this the ultimatum: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Respect what you love <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Acknowledge these fellows we should treasure <\/p>\n\n\n\n
These hues surrounding me <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of green <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of trees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
