Welcome to the community of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic College Burraneer<\/strong>. Striving for excellence, we are the only specialist all-girls school in the Sutherland Shire.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Dear Parents and Carers,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we conclude Term 3, I would like to express my gratitude for your support throughout the term. This term has been significant for our students, offering a wide range of extracurricular opportunities that have enabled them to explore new interests, develop their skills, and forge friendships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the spirit of our recent Mercy Day, let us be reminded of our college prayer, which calls us to live a life rooted in Gospel values and a deep love for all people. May we strive to embody these principles in our daily actions, fostering compassion and understanding in our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by the spirit of<\/strong> Catherine McAuley, We lovingly offer ourselves in service to you. As we follow the way of the cross, we pray that Catherine, and the many others who have walked the path of Mercy,encourage us on our journey. We pray for your grace to ignite in us a love for all your people, So that: Where there is poverty; we show mercy Where there is misery; we bring mercy Where there is hunger and thirst for justice; we are mercy Let us remain faithful to the Gospel believing that \u2018anything we do for your people here, we do also for you\u2019. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mercy Day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual Mercy Day celebrations infused our college with a lively spirit of faith and friendship. Students eagerly organised food and game stalls and enjoyed a wide range of activities throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

Days like these cultivate a strong sense of belonging and strengthen the bonds within our community. They highlight the values we share and the support we provide one another, creating cherished memories and lasting friendships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A huge congratulations to Mrs Alison Redman, who was awarded The 2024 Living Mercy Award. This award recognises individuals in our community who exemplify our values through their actions. College staff were invited to nominate a colleague who truly embodies the Mercy Charism, and Mrs Redman was a standout choice. Our Living Mercy Award winner embodies unconditional kindness, positive regard and\u00a0welcoming hospitality. Mrs Redman truly reflects the words of Catherine McAuley who said, \u201cIf the love of God really reigns in your heart, it will quickly show itself in the exterior.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs Redman exemplifies the essence of servant leadership, always putting others first and radiating kindness in everything she does. As a teacher, she goes above and beyond to ensure that her students feel valued and thrive in their learning environment. Her excellence in thorough planning, programming, and assessment of learning further enhances her students\u2019 experiences. Her genuine care and dedication shine through in every interaction, fostering relationships that encourage students to reach their full potential. We are incredibly proud to have Mrs Redman in our community.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 4 Curriculum Day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Year 4 students from our feeder schools for a special ” High School Experience” day. The Year 4 girls participated in engaging workshops in CAPA (Creative and Performing Arts) and PDHPE (Personal Development, Health, and Physical Education), all led by our enthusiastic Year \ud83d\ude2f students. It was a fantastic opportunity for the younger students to get a taste of high school life, learn new skills, and draw inspiration from their older peers, sparking their excitement for the years ahead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Europe 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Hughes, Ms Mahoney and Mrs Watson are taking 27 Year 10 students on our inaugural Europe trip during the upcoming school holidays. We wish them safe travels and an enriching experience abroad. This journey promises to be an exceptional opportunity for our students to engage in meaningful learning. We invite you to follow our social media channels to stay updated on their activities and experiences during the trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Mr Hughes, Mrs Watson and Miss Mahoney who are accompanying the group. Their willingness to dedicate time away from their families to support our students is commendable and greatly valued. Thank you for your commitment to providing this transformative experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
