We empower our girls to make their mark on society with confidence and compassion.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-color-2-color has-text-color\"><strong>National Child Safety Week &#8211;&nbsp;2 &#8211; 6 September 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we approach National Child Safety Week, I would like to take a moment to emphasise the importance of ensuring our children\u2019s safety, both at school and at home. This week serves as a vital reminder for us all to be vigilant and proactive in protecting our children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme for Child Protection Week is \u201cEvery conversation matters\u201d\u2019, this ties in with the National Office of Child Safety\u2019s&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.childsafety.gov.au\/one-talk-time\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cOne talk at a time\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;campaign which you may have seen on TV, youtube or social media. Here is some parent information that supports keeping our children safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ocg.nsw.gov.au\/resources\/about-grooming-information-child-related-organisations\" target=\"_blank\">Information about grooming<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; Information for parents about grooming so you reduce the opportunities of grooming occurring.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=99YNC08p95c\" target=\"_blank\">Safe mobile phone use<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; Information for students about how to use a mobile phone safely e.g. not giving your location away when you post photos on social media.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And a few key points to consider:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Open Communication<\/strong>: Encourage your daughter to speak openly about their day and any concerns they may have. A trusting relationship can help them feel safe and supported.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Online Safety<\/strong>: Monitor your daughter&#8217;s online activities and educate them about the potential dangers of the internet. Ensure they understand the importance of privacy and the risks of sharing personal information, such as not giving away their location when posting photos on social media.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Stranger Danger<\/strong>: Reinforce the concept of \u201cstranger danger\u201d and teach your daughter how to respond if approached by someone they don\u2019t know.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Emergency Preparedness<\/strong>: Make sure your daughter know important contact numbers and what to do in case of an emergency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Grooming Awareness<\/strong>: Talk to your daughter about grooming to reduce the opportunities of grooming occurring.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important that as parents we provide our daughters with guidance and structure as they navigate the teenage years.
