SCHOOL HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES
Our local councils are putting on some great sustainability activities for kids these school holidays.
Some callouts from Willoughby Council are ‘From rags to artworks’ at Northbridge Library and ‘Bushland Adventures – all about spiders’ down at Warner’s Park. Check out all the activities and details here.
North Sydney Council have lots on too, including ‘Wildlife Detectives’ and ‘Urban Grow: Gardening for Kids’ at the Coal Loader, Waverton.
Check out the full list and details here.
FUTURE COUNCIL FREE MOVIE SCREENING
There’s a free screening of ‘Future Council’ on Saturday 25 October at the Coal Loader for Sustainability, Waverton. Directed by Damon Gameau (2040, That Sugar Film), the film follows 8 children on a road trip across Europe, challenging leaders and finding solutions to our greatest ecological challenges. This free outdoor movie screening is presented by North Sydney Council, in partnership with students from several North Sydney schools. You can expect the unexpected, as our future leaders take charge on the night and put their stamp on what it means to ‘be the future’. Gates open from 5pm and you are encouraged to come early, bring a picnic with family and friends, watch the sunset and listen to live music, before the movie screening starts at 7:30pm. Watch the trailer here.
THE ENVIRONMENTORS ARE COMING
In Term 4 we’re excited to welcome the EnviroMentors to NPS! They’ll be leading interactive sustainability incursions, including ‘How to pack a healthy, waste-free lunchbox’ and a hands-on school waste audit. It will be a great opportunity to learn practical ways to reduce waste and care for our environment. More info to come!
