International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. IWD is celebrated annually on the 8th of March and is one of the most important days of the year to celebrate women’s achievements, educate and raise awareness for women’s equality. This year’s IWD theme was <\/span>Inspire Inclusion<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The College celebrated IWD in house groups during Community Time in Week 5. Each house\u00a0 listened to a range of speakers from our MSCW community, including students, staff and ex-students. Each speaker discussed their perspectives on being female in 2024 and insights on this year’s theme, <\/span>Inspire Inclusion. <\/span><\/i>It was valuable having a range of speakers of\u00a0 different ages with unique stories and experiences to share with our community. Students found the presentations meaningful and highly inspiring.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was very empowering. It made us appreciate the women who have overcome difficulties in their lives and made us realise we can overcome challenges in our lives too. Women are still struggling throughout the world and we need to support them and continue to fight for their rights.\u201d<\/span><\/i> – Nika Chaman, Year 11\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
