In our Church \u2026\u2026<\/i><\/b><\/i><\/b><\/h5>\n

On Sunday the Church entered the second week of Lent.\u00a0 The readings were about journey and travelling with Christ through hardship.\u00a0 From the Sunday Missal: as followers of Jesus, we have nowhere to pitch our tents.\u00a0 We must journey with Jesus through the hardships of life to glory.\u00a0 There will be oases along the way \u2013 moments of consolation which reveal the presence of God among us.\u00a0 We cannot remain in these moments for ever, but they give us refreshment.\u00a0 Remembering them will sustain us on our pilgrim way.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I am reminded of that very beautiful Christian poem: Footprints.\u00a0 While its authorship is of some dispute, the poem itself reflects the presence of God throughout pour journey, especially during the difficult times we experience.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.\"\"<\/a>
\n<\/span><\/i>Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
\n<\/span><\/i>In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
\n<\/span><\/i>Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
\n<\/span><\/i>other times there were one set of footprints.
\n<\/span><\/i>This bothered me because I noticed
\n<\/span><\/i>that during the low periods of my life,
\n<\/span><\/i>when I was suffering from
\n<\/span><\/i>anguish, sorrow or defeat,
\n<\/span><\/i>I could see only one set of footprints.
\n<\/span><\/i>So I said to the Lord,
\n<\/span><\/i>“You promised me Lord,
\n<\/span><\/i>that if I followed you,
\n<\/span><\/i>you would walk with me always.
\n<\/span><\/i>But I have noticed that during
\n<\/span><\/i>the most trying periods of my life
\n<\/span><\/i>there have only been one
\n<\/span><\/i>set of footprints in the sand.
\n<\/span><\/i>Why, when I needed you most,
\n<\/span><\/i>you have not been there for me?”
\n<\/span><\/i>The Lord replied,
\n<\/span><\/i>“The times when you have
\n<\/span><\/i>seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
\n<\/span><\/i>is when I carried you.”<\/span><\/i><\/sub><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n

The single set of footprints is our oases, those moments of consolation where God is revealed to us as hope, as strength and as comfort.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
