{"id":3888,"date":"2022-06-30T18:07:06","date_gmt":"2022-06-30T08:07:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/mscw\/?post_type=article&#038;p=3888"},"modified":"2022-06-30T18:07:06","modified_gmt":"2022-06-30T08:07:06","slug":"news-from-the-college-counsellors-2","status":"publish","type":"article","link":"https:\/\/www.thebuzz.net.au\/mscw\/article\/news-from-the-college-counsellors-2\/","title":{"rendered":"News from the College Counsellors"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><b>Support group<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><b>Birchtree Centre of Excellence<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">running a support group for carers of people living with eating disorders. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For more information and to register your interest, go to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.birchtreecentre.com.au\/services-for-clients\/carers-support-group\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ED Carers Support Group<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Share the care with school<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Changes in a young person\u2019s physical or mental health can affect their schooling and relationships.\u00a0 Support is available for MSCW students experiencing mental health or even physical health concerns.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please let us know if your child has presented at or been admitted to hospital or an emergency service for any physical or mental health concern so that we can consider together if further supports are required to enhance learning and wellbeing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You or an advocate can speak with the Principal, Assistant Principal, House Coordinators, Leader of Wellbeing or School Counsellors to develop a plan together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ask us for help with:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Keeping your child safe<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Returning to school following a physical or mental health incident<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Identifying school staff your child can talk to<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Developing an individual support plan to improve engagement and attendance\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Accessing support from the school and external agencies<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We know that looking after your child is your number one priority &#8211;
