\"\"As part of her pattern of study in Year 11, Tahlia successfully completed the <\/span>ACM20121 Certificate II in Animal Care<\/b> through the Taronga Training Institute at Taronga Zoo. Attending the course every Thursday throughout Terms 1, 2 and 3, Tahlia gained a nationally recognised qualification while developing practical skills in animal handling, feeding, health care, hygiene, and workplace safety. The course combines classroom learning with hands-on experiences in a real zoo environment, giving students valuable insight into the animal care industry and pathways to future careers working with animals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the program, Tahlia embraced every opportunity to learn from animal care professionals <\/span>and work alongside a variety of species. The experience not only strengthened her practical skills and confidence but also deepened her understanding of animal welfare, conservation, and the responsibilities involved in caring for animals.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDuring my <\/span><\/i>Certificate II in Animal Care<\/i><\/b> at Taronga Zoo, I gained hands-on experience caring for a range of animals while learning about animal welfare, feeding, hygiene, health care, and safe animal handling practices. I participated in practical training days in the farm area, where I cleaned paddocks and conducted visual health checks on goats and alpacas. While I was there, several female goats gave birth, which gave me the opportunity to work with baby goats and assist with their care.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I also had the chance to feed a variety of animals, including giraffes, zebras, and emus. During my assessment days, I learned how to greet and assist customers, follow emergency procedures and drills, and work closely with animals in a professional environment.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The course provided me with valuable experience in a real zoo setting, where I developed practical skills, built confidence, and learned how to work responsibly as part of a team. I also improved my communication and problem-solving abilities and gained a greater understanding of the importance of conservation and professional animal care.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Overall, the course gave me valuable hands-on experience and strengthened my passion for working with animals.\u201d Tahlia\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
