The excursion was designed to deepen students\u2019 understanding of key concepts from both the Preliminary Legal Studies course and the upcoming HSC Crime syllabus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Throughout the day, students experienced the justice system firsthand by observing court proceedings and gaining insight into the roles of court personnel, the criminal trial process, and a range of legal and non-legal responses to crime. This authentic learning opportunity allowed students to see how the principles studied in the classroom are applied in real-world contexts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students were encouraged to evaluate the rule of law in action by considering whether individuals were treated fairly and equally before the law. They explored how legal processes contribute to achieving justice for victims, accused persons, offenders, and the wider community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Following the excursion, students reflected on their observations and analysed both the strengths and limitations of the court system. They also discussed how the experience challenged or reinforced their perceptions of the justice system.
