Keeping Our Community Safe: Road Rules Awareness Week (September 21 \u2013 27)\"\"<\/a>

With peak drop-off and pick-up hours bringing traffic to Woolwich Road, street safety around the College is a daily priority. Because the vast majority of our students travel to and from by bus, staying vigilant on the roads surrounding the school protects our entire community.<\/p>\n

With Road Rules Awareness Week<\/b> taking place from September 21 to 27<\/b>, we ask all parents, caregivers, and student drivers to take a moment for a quick refresher on road safety. Simple shifts in awareness reduce accidents and ensure everyone returns home safely each day.<\/p>\n

Key Reminders for Drivers and Passengers<\/b><\/p>\n

  • \n

    Buses need extra braking distance:<\/b> As large, heavy vehicles, buses cannot stop quickly. Avoid cutting closely in front of a bus or stopping suddenly in front of one.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Give way to buses:<\/b> Always yield to a bus signaling to merge back into traffic from a bus stop or curb.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Slow down to 40 km\/h when bus lights flash:<\/b> Flashing lights mean children are actively boarding or stepping off. Students may unexpectedly run out from behind or in front of the bus, so reduce your speed immediately.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Passenger safety on board:<\/b> Students travelling on buses should hold onto handrails while moving through the aisle and remain fully seated until the bus comes to a complete stop.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • Pedestraians:<\/strong> All members of our community need to cross Woolwich Road at the traffic lights.<\/li>\n
  • Alighting from buses:<\/strong> All student must enter the College immedatiately on arrival.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Thank you for doing your part to keep Woolwich Road safe for our students, drivers, and neighbors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    THURSDAY SPORT AND EARLY LEAVE<\/h4>\n

    To ensure student safety and fulfill our duty of care, students are not permitted to leave or be collected directly from off-site sport locations, until the end of Sport at 2:30pm.<\/p>\n

    If your child has an appointment and requires an early departure on a sport day, please collect them from the College campus prior to the end of lunch.<\/b><\/p>\n

    Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and accounted for.<\/p>\n
