Year 10, 11 and 12 Visual Arts students recently attended an excursion to the\u00a0Art Gallery of New South Wales, where they engaged with a range of contemporary and historical exhibitions across the gallery.<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
A key highlight was\u00a0ARTEXPRESS 2026, which provided valuable insight into exemplary HSC bodies of work and inspired students\u2019 own artmaking practice. Students also experienced\u00a0Mike Hewson\u2019s installation\u00a0The Key is Under the Mat<\/em>, an interactive, large-scale playground-like work in The Tank that invited physical engagement and challenged perceptions of space.<\/div>\n

Further highlights included\u00a0And Still I Rise<\/em>, celebrating contemporary Australian female artists, and the large scale ceramic works of\u00a0Mechelle Bounpraseuth, which sparked strong interest among students.<\/div>\n

This excursion provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect with contemporary practice, develop their understanding of artistic approaches, and draw inspiration for their own work.<\/div>\n
