The first game was a tight encounter, with NSW holding off QLD to win 5-4. This meant that if they won the second game, NSW would retain the series. However, the Queensland girls came out with a vengeance, defeating NSW 5-3 in a fast-paced match. The series was then drawn 1-1, with the third match to decide which team would return home with the shield.
