International Women\u2019s Day, celebrated on 8 March, invites us to pause and recognise the extraordinary legacy of women who have shaped our world. We also look ahead with confidence to the young women who will shape the future. At MSCW our mission is to nurture academic rigour, personal growth, and the formation of young women who know their worth, understand their potential, and feel empowered to pursue it boldly.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year our senior student leaders embraced that mission with enthusiasm and creativity, transforming International Women’s Day into International Women’s Week at MSCW! Their leadership, passion and commitment were evident in every activity and initiative they coordinated for our community.<\/span><\/p>\n

Monday saw the launch of International Women\u2019s Week, with a video shared to every Homeroom to introduce this year\u2019s International Women\u2019s Day theme, \u201cBalancing the Scales\u201d and what it means to our Marist community. Tuesday featured an interactive visual installation titled \u201cBalancing the Scales.\u201d A set of balancing scales was created to symbolise the challenges women continue to face. One side of the scales was weighted with representations of the inequities women still face in parts of the world. Students were invited to place coins on the opposite side of the scales to symbolically balance the scales and inequities. The installation served as a powerful visual reminder that collective effort and small actions can contribute to meaningful change. All funds raised will be donated to Project Compassion.<\/span><\/p>\n
